So amazing that even my friend, who just started the game, can see by comparing before and after that the changes are garbage, so he's now deadset to not even try SCH and stick to SMN. Really, amazing changes! Here we go again. Same ol thread again. More armchair devs trying to give "feedback" when they do not even know what they are talking about. The changes are amazing yet people still want to complain. Healers are in such a good spot that more people are willinging to give it a chance. Bascially these post boil down to: "i didnt get what i want, so devs dont know what they are doing." At least TRY the changes before you pretend you know what you are talking about.
Nay'sayers aren't any better. I suppose you have proof that more people are willing to give it healers a chance? If anything I expect more WAR to show up.Here we go again. Same ol thread again. We'll just have to see what happens when it hits, but I'm just gonna keep sitting on WHM, the changes to the other two give me no reason to shift if Healing is all SE wants the 3 to do. I'm already on the 'best' healer already if that's the case.
If you want to play the best healer you should main SCH LOL... but I get what you're saying. Sad state of affairs.

Hiya.
I watched the credits. I suggest you do too.
SE's class design team is quite literally half the size of any comparable MMO that I can get accurate staff and role counts for. It's also worth noting that this team of 4 has remained unchanged from ARR.
Did you know that there are as many voice actors per major character as there are class designers in total within this team?
This isn't conjecture. This isn't me pulling out theories and spinning lies.
These are simple and clear facts that you can go and see for yourself (https://www.mobygames.com/game/windo...mblood/credits).
But you won't. Because all you are interested in is trying to push this strange success story agenda of yours.
Ps fun fact, can't really call me an armchair dev when I've got a couple of titles to my name (World builder for the Guildford/Chertsey era of Bullfrog).

How would you know how “amazing” the changes are compared to what healers currently offer? You have a level 7 CNJ, no SCH, and a level 44 AST. Try actually playing your healers at level 70 the way they are now, and then talk about the state of affairs for ShB healers. There are several career healers that are upset about these changes—people that actually play the jobs they are concerned about on a regular basis in various types of content, including high-end content. I’ll listen to their voices before someone who doesn’t actually play the role...Here we go again. Same ol thread again. I always wonder what the healer dev team is like...
Do they all actually main healers or are they the extra DPS that had to go healer because someone else in the raid group is also playing that job and has 0.1 better DPS then them (usually a BRD or SMN, maybe RDM. Never a BLM, they have too much pride)?
If it makes you feel any better, Fluid Aura is now has a 25 yalm range. >w>

After the way they handled the start of Stormblood, I'm not entirely sure they have devs dedicated to job balance, especially not for healer. This "rework" could not have taken more than a month. I think the guy from 4.0 who messed up WHM for the xpac and SCH for the start is probably at play again. Please expand healer dps kits and remove redundant healing skills. I dont need multiple AOE heals which do basically the same thing, nor do I need the same for single target healing.
Redesigning healers SHOULD have began with pruning skills down to what is base line required to heal, then adding useful flavor from there. The redesign you gave us is just awful in so many ways.
In all seriousness I would like the next live letter to have the healers devs on to explain their thought process on these changes.

I would as well, though like Rubiss stated I'm also of the mind that they don't actually have developers purely dedicated to balancing only healers. Because none of these changes are actually what anyone has been asking for. Not at a casual level, not at a midcore level, and certainly not at a high tier level in terms of skill. The only people who would be happy with these changes are the people who are allergic to even touching their DPS skills and don't mind the gross amount of downtime healers currently have.
Now, I will /happily/ eat my words if it turns out we're getting a proper rebalance of content to match these changes. If everything from 1-80 is reworked in such a way to as make healers have more than 80% uptime for their casts, or even 70%, I'll zip my lip and just politely request a proper DPS rotation for 6.0. However I have a nasty feeling that the damage increase we're getting in 5.0 is about the same as what we got in Stormblood. A.k.a. - things hit slightly harder, but only the lowest common denominator will actually have trouble dealing with what's dished out to them. Which ultimately won't actually address healer balance in any meaningful way.
I'm just hoping my gut is wrong. I want so badly for it to be wrong.
