    Regular 90002 Errors

Sometimes these are followed up with Lobby server errors, sometimes not.
Now theres random 10105 errors to go with it as well.

This has been a recurring problem in the last 1.5 to 2 weeks (and was infrequent between the time this server was migrated to Crystal and the above time period).

    Where this has occurred:

    Inside a private house
Inside a housing ward but not inside a house.
    Inside a FC house
    Inside a FC workshop
Loading into a new area via teleporting.
Flying on a mount in a stormblood zone.
    On foot near an aetheryte.
On foot not near an aetheryte.
On a mount near an aetheryte.
On a mount not near an aetheryte.
    Inside a group instance.

This does not affect any other MMO's, nor any other streaming service running on the same network at the same time.

Running FF14 on one computer and 6 instances of Everquest on computer 2 will see connection errors occur on computer 1, but not computer 2. Running ff14 on computer 2, and 6+ instances of everquest on computer 1 will result in connection errors on computer 2 but not computer 1.

These errors do not begin occurring if I keep the same character logged in for a long period of time (Prior to the datacenter change, the longest it managed to stay connected without problems was over a week. Since the datacenter change, it has been 14 hours), but as soon as that character is logged out, the 90002 errors will start the next time any character is logged in.

    Info:

    Laptop running Windows 10

Wireless connection with no option to use a wired connection

VPN does not prevent these errors from occurring.

Changing DNS to only IPVP4 , both using googles public DNS and using the native DNS settings does not change the frequency of these errors.

Using a different computer does not change the frequency of these errors.

Resetting my modem does reduce the frequency of these errors for several hours, and then it is roughly once per hour, though not exact (it varies from instant to 2-3 hours).

    Currently trying:

    Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY XIV - A Realm Reborn
    open FFXIV.cfg with notepad
    find
    <Network Settings>
    set UPnP to 0

update - no change, still dc'ing every ~hour

    Edit -

I am 100% positive this has to do with the packet loss associated with DHCP renewal requests.

I can replicate this every. single. time. I test it, with multiple networks. It disconnects within 3 seconds of the renewal time on each and every renewal.

I've had the exact same issue for about the same amount of time, but with the main difference being that I play on Chaos (Ragnarok). Disconnects are seemingly random, I've had disconnects inside cutscenes as well. In my case the 90002 error is always followed by a 2002 error the next time I try to connect to the data centre, which exits the client (really wish this wasn't the case so I could keep trying), or I can log in only to be kicked out with another 90002 error within 5 minutes. Time of day doesn't seem to affect it as I got disconnected at 2 pm earlier today, but I've mostly played on EU prime time so it might've been an one-off instance.

I've been playing for just over a month without any issues at all but the disconnects started 1.5 to 2 weeks ago for me. None of the other applications running on the computer indicates a network issue on my end and running WinMTR to check packet loss kind of confirms it (only ran it for the time I wrote this reply).

    Code:

    Ryzen 2600
    nVidia GeForce GTX1080
Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller as Network Interface
    Wired connections at 250/100 MBit
    Using Cloudflare DNS (1.1.1.1/1.0.0.1)
Other TCP connections like Twitch streams are unaffected

Hopefully there's something we can do to fix this!

    Additional Observances

In my household we have anywhere from 1 to 5 people playing FFXIV at a time. I have noticed that the disconnects don't affect the same servers at the same time. For instance, 2 people might be on Zalera and get disconnected while one playing on Goblin doesn't get disconnected. Sometimes I am the only person playing and I get disconnected after disconnect, yet other times I can play for hours without a single disconnect.

This is extremely frustrating when it happens when crafting because you are almost guaranteed to lose some potentially expensive materials.

Exact same issue here. 9002 sometimes followed by lobby connection error and getting booted out of the game. Started same, ~2 weeks ago, I think it was around the time the first DDOs attacks happened?

I had the same issue last summer and it got fixed by entering a specific DNS address for IPv4. However, that stopped working and with or without it, I get the same errors.

If I ping 195.82.50.9 (Chaos) and let's say google.com from another cmd the packet loss only happen on the data center address, I get no time outs for the other ping.

I tried most advice on the forum here and what I could find on elsewhere. I took a break from the game hoping this will get fixed, but I really want to play now to be able to prepare for Shadowbringers and as the situation stands now, I literally cannot play without getting kicked out.

Are there really no answers from Square Enix side? No resolution in sight or acknowledging of the problem? I cannot believe suddenly multiple people start having the same issue and only for one application on their computer without the issue being on SE side.

I spent some time measuring packet loss to the other data centres to measure the difference and unless the EU data centre is dropping more packets for an unrelated reason (like not responding to pings) it's seemingly struggling a lot more than any of the other data centres.

My router seems to drop more packets when running 4 of these at once, if I only run one of them it sits at 0% packet loss as expected. Is there some DDOS going on that's targeting EU?

I'm thinking theres something going on where DHCP lease renewal packets are causing timeouts with 14.

I can replicate one type of 90002 error down to the second of those renewal packets are sent, where other MMO's and streaming content arent affected.

It makes no sense to me because this -shouldnt- be something that has any interaction, but it feels obviously connected.

Same issue, I've rest my network settings/router, bought a new router, opened ports on old/new router, and had my isp come out to check my connection and I'm still getting booted off randomly, I would really like to make sure that launch night I'm not getting booted and forced to wait in que every cpl hrs.

I am absolutely 100% convinced that a good chunk of 90002 errors are being caused by the packet loss caused during these lease renewals.

I can replicate these errors every single time I test it.

I can only assume that following the server splits, something changed and the servers are now significantly more sensitive to these losses.

Heres a solution that worked for me, it seems like there is an issue because of Internet Explorer (regardless if you use it)

    Greetings,

The issue you are describing is most associated with interference with the game data. Most of the time, it results from certain security/privacy changes on Internet Explorer. Other times, it occurs when an application running in the background causes interference, such as anti-virus software, firewalls, media players, web browsers, communications software, etc.

Please make sure all background applications (including anti-virus programs such as Norton, Kaspersky, Windows Defender, etc.) have been disabled and/or closed to minimize game interference before attempting to log in.

Ensure that the latest version of Internet Explorer is installed on your PC (even if you don’t use Internet Explorer). Please do not use Microsoft Edge for these steps, as that is a different Internet platform.
Once Internet Explorer is up-to-date, please open the Internet Explorer browser’s “Internet Options” by clicking on the “Tools” option (or type Alt+X), then click on the “Internet options” setting. Please adjust the following settings:

    - Under the General tab, please delete ALL browsing history by clicking on the “Delete…” button, then selecting all of the options and clicking “Delete” again.
    - Under the Security tab, please move the slider to the lowest possible setting, or no higher than “Medium.”
    - Under the Privacy tab, look for the Settings section and click on “Advanced,” then Accept First-party Cookies and Third-party Cookies, then check the box that says, “Always allow session cookies” and click OK.
    - Under the Advanced tab, look for the Settings section and scroll towards the bottom of the list and check on the setting under Security for “Allow software to run or install even if the signature is invalid.”
    - Under the same section, make sure that all ‘Use TLS’ options (EXCEPT SSL 3.0) are checked. [Use SSL 3.0 should be unchecked]

Hit “Apply” then “OK” to save the changes.
    Please RESTART your PC now.

Once your PC has been restarted, Right-Click the FFXIV launcher icon once more and select “Run as Administrator.” This option can also be set permanently by Right-Clicking on the FFXIV launcher icon, selecting Properties, then under the Compatibility tab, check the box that says “Run this program as an administrator” and clicking OK.

If the suggestions provided above do not resolve the issue, there may be a communication error.

Check the following Port Ranges on your router/modem to ensure that the following Port Ranges have been opened/forwarded/triggered:
    ▼TCP
    54992 through 54994,
    55006 through 55007,
    55021 through 55040

*You may learn how to do this by visiting http://www.portforward.com/
Find your specific router's brand and model number from the 'List of Routers' and you will be provided a step-by-step guide on how to access these port settings.
Otherwise, your ISP may forward these ports for you.*

If you have properly configured your router, and you are still experiencing these issues, our next suggestion is to bypass the router, and connect your computer directly to your modem. Please ensure that you power down both the modem and the computer for at least five minutes before attempting to connect to FINAL FANTASY XIV.

If you continue to receive these same errors when you are connected directly to the modem, then the problem lies with your ISP. We would recommend contacting your provider and advising them that one or more of the ports previously provided to you are being blocked or filtered, and that you do need access on these ports.

    Thank you,
    Agent Angi
