    Future of half the elementals?

    Come 5.0 White Mage will see Aero III removed, Dia being the upgraded Aero II and Glare the new Stone IV. Both new spells will be unaspected damage, not to mention Dia wont even have the defense debuff its usually known to have.

    White Mage branches from Conjurer which back in 1.0 had all the elementals but was later split to only have the "nature" based trio of earth, wind and water. I get that White Mage is suppose to be light/holy based but losing all element type spells seems odd? Whats going to happen with this half of the elementals moving forward? Will we see them moved to a new job or will they just be forgotten?

    Anyone else have any thoughts on this? I loved the nature aspect of White Mage.

    My very limited understanding is that Light and Darkness do not count as elements in XIV, though this is one bit of lore I know very little about. I think there was actually a thread about it though.

    Anyways there is the possibility that WHM moving onto to being more about Light leaves Geomancer open for its previous elements. Time will tell.

    Time you say, funny i think them removing alot of the time aspects of AST could mean time mage is planned as well

    That was my first thought, but they technically haven't removed them from White Mage yet, simply upgraded them to something entirely different. A Lv1 Conjurer still has Stone, still learns Aero, etc.

    Not to mention, if they were to remove them outright from White Mage, that would seriously mess with Red Mages lore...

    It does make sense since they removed a bunch of bard's support to give to dancer.

    I feel that NPC with the hammer is teasing us a new job (like some of how our other NPCs in the game have). I know they said don't dwell on it but I imagine that's just back up just in case they decide not to do it lol. I feel (just a feeling) that it's still something they're talking about at the office.

    I suppose it'll be really interesting to see if Tera (right?) has any theme of spells that could reveal more to us about her design.

    This is the plan. It's obvious that the only mage that's left to be added is a nature mage. More precisely one that uses nature to attack, not to be confused with elemental mages like Black mage. So yes, out of all the classic FF mages Geomancer is the one that would control nature to its fullest extent. Possibly Green mage as well as a plant healer, healing by summong plants, trees, water; that would be an amazing healer design.

    Geomancer as dps
    Green mage as healer

    That would be absolutely genius.

    CNJ only had access to all elemental spells before Jobs were added (Fire, Ice and Lightning elemental spells were specifically removed from CNJ because Jobs were added - so as for CNJ to be a better fit for WHM, with the Fire, Ice and Lightning spells given to THM for BLM). There was no lore reason given at all for the change over - story wise it's as if those classes and Jobs had been that way all along.

    Personally I would have rather CNJ actually have kept the elemental spells (although tweaked slightly) and instead lost it's healing/buffing spells which would be given instead to a 'priest' type class that WHM would instead have hypothetically upgraded from, with CNJ instead upgrading to GEO (1.0 THM likewise losing it's Astral polarity spells and given to the same class, with THM turning into a proper elemental 'wizard' type class that would have meant a much more 'FF traditional' BLM).

    But alas...

    Maybe in another Shard perhaps...
