Oh for sure. I just meant if they had no raise, I would be alright with smn total contribution being near blm level. They still have it, so their total contribution should be lower. And by total, I include how much damage they give to other jobs with things like devotion.@ Zerathor
Smn still has lots of utility, i kind of admit i did not look much at what 5.0 smn will get but it's total dmg should not equal to that of blm which does not have the utility.
I do get what you are saying and agree in part, just not that smn should have equal dmg to blm is all

As a RDM main, I agree OP. Raise is a healer utility, not a dps one; it should either be constrained or removed entirely from the Caster role.
I can agree to removal of SMN resurrection but would request a change for Demi-Phoenix. Everlasting Flight is laughable and instead would like it if it gave the summoner a 10 to 15 second reraise effect, that if you somehow die in that window you can just raise yourself but it would place a debuff on you that wouldn't let you have the buff again for 3 to 5 minutes.
The dangerous thing about a ReRaise type action is you could use it to cheat certain type of mechs/attacks in the game, as this could essentially be treated like a Tank invulnerable ability. Of course dying is not recommended at all as you would still have Weakness but it could be a worthy sacrifice if it skips a mech you know.
Fair enoughOh for sure. I just meant if they had no raise, I would be alright with smn total contribution being near blm level. They still have it, so their total contribution should be lower. And by total, I include how much damage they give to other jobs with things like devotion.
I hope 5.0 will be great for all casters
Do any of you realize what would happen if black mage did get a raise given to them? People would run around these forums with their heads on fire screaming HOMOGENIZATION HOMOGENIZATION!! Like it was the second coming of christ.
Black mage is in a good place. Shadowbringers shored up a few weaknesses and gave it more booms to do damage with? What more did you want? Did you think it was going to get raid utility? No the whole point of samurai and black mage is mass onslaught and damage. Utility just takes that away.
So explode away black mages. May your booms be massive and never ending! Dont stop til you’ve set the entirety of the first on fire!!
I would love this, personally. Maybe theme the raise around Pheonix by making it a 72+ trait that upgrades res to an OGCD instant cast 60sec CD. I personally don't care too much for SMNs having a raise in the first place since really, the only reason they have it is because it shared arcanist with SCH in my opinion. Especially with how they talk about BLM not needing a raise. I don't think they should get one. I'd just like SMN to focus more on party buff with personal damage. RDM can keep their raise in it's current form.I would say that each caster should get a raise on the OGCD with a long cool down (60+ seconds.) They are not support, its clear to see that with their role skills. They can all share the niche of raising with a long cool down and should all have balanced RDPS + PDPS. This way, every caster can raise and no caster will be losing DPS to do it. There will no longer be a safe choice or a true glass cannon. They will be 3 casters doing their role of "Do as much damage as you can do and maybe raise once in a while." This or offer an alternative where each caster provides something equivalent to raising (like BLM getting an OGCD buff that says the next raise/ressurection/Ascend has no cast time and costs no mana for example.]

would be more fun if each caster has certain trait for each of their raise spell.each caster should get a raise on the OGCD with a long cool down
whm and sch got the usual raise with usual cooldown
blm raise cost them all of their mana because white magic is not their speciality
rdm raise has longest cooldown
something like that
