    AST is the RNG class. AST is the utility class that could fix nearly any issue of a group. Poor mana management, poor TP management, squishy tanks, dps who stood in aoe's to finish their casts(cast speed).

    You even agree that AST is supposed to be the utility class, so where's the utility?

    Even if the seal system were to be expanded with more effects, the issue remains that pulling from a deck of cards acts like flipping a coin

    5.0 cards has 15 seconds duration with either 3%Buff or 6%Buff to damage single target every 30s plus a 6% AoE buff (with proper seals) for 15s every 3minutes.

    Previous cards are 10% during 30s plus royal roads and time dilations.

    Dps buff might be guaranteed but AST got a massive nerf to the potency of its buffs

    i have thoroughly enjoyed the tactical aspect of the cards up to 4.x.. It's been fun, engaging, and provoking the need to think ahead.. ok tank is going to do some mass pulling.. hold a bole for him just in case... yep he needs it. toss it and then go nuts.. oh he doesn't need it.. i'll remember that for next time.. next try comes up.. oh i got a ewer i'll use it on my self and gravity spam... Oooo Balance card.. sweet. put it on the bazooka dps.. I never cared for fishing.. i used what i got for the cards.. if lady luck smiled on me.. yahoo if not.. i plan accordingly and that has always been the name of the game with Ast.. as someone said.. give a brd a spear card.. they in wanderer's minute.. holy hell look at that spam of pitch perfect... or there's a mnk.. forbidden chakra is more likely to be seen.. balance is not the end all be all dmg buff everyone makes it out to be.. every card had it's uses.. figuring out when and how to use it.. that was the fun part.. this.. a monkey can figure it out.. no brains what so ever.. this new system... provokes more engagement for the class... yeah right.. toss a card here toss a card there... doesn't matter it all increases dmg.. WOOPY..... boring... unless they add a secondary effect to the cards.. the whole point of the tactical layout for the Ast will be lost.. it'll be another cookie cutter healer with nothing for it to stand out.. ooo shields.. yeah Sch just got a big buff to their shielding... oh.. hey.. at lvl 80 they get access to the ability to use both sects... for 20 seconds.. again big woop. this change to.. if you're an melee you get 6% dps from these cards.. oh you're a ranged then... you get to have these cards instead... is.. lack luster.. lazy... and boring.. But that's my opinion..

    Seems like the duration & less % buff are a price to pay for always getting that balance. IMO, it's going to be overall more damage throughout the dungeon/trial/raid then the old AST card system.

    Not even gonna read the whole post.
    Sure it's a bit rude towards everyone who followed up to just put my input here but..
    You don't want AST to be a coinflip because of its change to be either ranged buff or melee buffs?
    Before you had Ewer, Bola, Spire, Arrow, Spear then you had Balance. Out of all these Arrow and spear were okayish but never at balance level. You had so much more of a coin toss. AST got a solid buff.. Now it gonna be key to push prog. Since neutral sect gonna allow you some crazy heal regen + shield with his dmg buff. How come people that used to complain about the utility of certain cards are now complaining about having them back!?
    Moral of the story people are never happy.

    People complaining about the utility of those cards didnt want them removed. They wanted them to be better.
    At this point they need to do away with cards. The whole time,fate,chance aspect is dead in the water anyway. Just go all the way with it and give them a party wide dps buff skill that has a set cooldown. No separating it into 3 different values.
    Lets be real. Theyre only keeping cards so they can call it Astrologian.

    People are upset because it's not fun to have your main job be turned into a balance bot. Sure, the people who have a hardon for balance welcome this with open arms. The rest of us not so much. I picked AST because it was fun, the cards I got I made a use for them. It was better for me in SB, I got a card that I felt maybe I couldn't get a use out of it? Ok, turn it into a small heal or a little bit of damage. I thought that was how AST was supposed to be enjoyed, but no apparently it's balance, balance, balance, balance. I'm glad some are happy about this. But for many, it ruined the class.

    To answer both of you on a gameplay being a balance machine is more about being consistenly able to put out a buff to your party instead of praying RNJesus. Seen plenty if not too many 1-2% enrage that could've been spared by an AST giving balances if only he had drawn one. Had a seiryu few days ago, was helping a friend, ast literally draw'd 1 balance in the whole fight. There was a lot of first timer, we still managed to get it to 1%. Now thats a case on a billion but if the changes were up, that would've been clear.

    Leaving this aside, 3 out of 6 cards gonna be useless just because the changes they're making to the combat system.. I'm sorry to hear that this change ruined your class but SE balances things based on raiding content and how consistent a class can get, hell they even giving BRD straigther shot buff with barrage. All the changes in ShB has been made with this in mind. Also ShB isn't up yet don't jump to conclusion at least wait it to get released and try it before saying it got ruined!

    I hate this argument. You dont need to play it to know less options will suck. Ast is a balance bot plain and simple. Can the new system be fun? Possibly. I dont count on it.
    And fate and chance are literally part of what makes Ast, Ast. People who didnt like that should never have played the class to begin with
