With all the changes being made, it looks like they might be making healing a bit more intense. If that isn't the case then the changes they made don't make a whole lot of sense to me, but I guess I'm no developer either.
Think about how it's going to be outside of dungeons though. Dungeons and raids are only a small part of the game. How fun is it going to be going through the main story quest as a healer with what we're being given? It's not like it was balls to the wall fun before hand.
I feel like healers are going to be actually fun and rewarding to play. people sometimes just expect the worst regardless. Even when we get our hands on it and we love it, the internet will never admit it.
I'd recommend watching the recent interview Mr. Happy had with Yoshi P. One of the dungeon runs he did, he mentioned how the damage going out was higher than usual which he mentioned to to Yoshida. He mentioned that while he didn't feel like he wanted healers to get the impression that they weren't going to have to dps anymore, he also wanted there to be more time spent actually fulfilling the healing role. Given their new vision of healers being "Pure Healers" It honestly looks like there is going to be more actual damage going out making it so healers are going to be spending more of their time actually healing. He basically came out and said that they increased outgoing damage. We will just have to wait and see if the amount of damage that is going to be going out warrants Healers spending more time healing vs dpsing. We can't really accurately know until we can tests it first hand.
Honestly, I've been reading and writing depressing posts regarding healer loss-.. I mean "changes", and this coming from a guy who doesn't main a healer, but just likes to play SCH occasionally, it's just that bad.
I'm going to go to cry myself to sleep, and pray in vain that when I wake up, it'll no longer be first of April.
The change to AST cards making them all balance is just one of the laziest things I've ever seen in a MMO. And I'm the type of person that actually hates using the term "lazy" specially towards developers, but I can't find a better word for this.
My hype for shadowbringers is dead and I'll never trust Square Enix to balance something ever again.
The only thing that I'm disappointing about is how they completely reworked AST. Removing Royal Road and Spread is mind boggling to me as I feel that's what gave AST it's own identity separate from WHM and SCH. I'm not on the "doom and gloom" train yet but those AST changes are really unappealing at the moment. WHM is kind of what I expected to happen and SCH got completely nuked in my opinion. Idk. We'll just have to wait and see.
I'm going to be honest... I was expecting them to mess it up. They have been trying to balance healers ever since they have introduced AST and it keeps getting worse, but holy moly... on paper this looks awful. And i don't even main a healer. When Stormblood rolled around and people were complaining about the lillies i was still like "eeh let's see how this works when it goes live" but this... even on paper this looks really really bad. even to a skeptic like myself.
I'm just going to hope the encounter design is going to change and there will be tons of damage coming from everywhere considering tanks can heal, phoenix can heal, dancers can heal RDM can heal and healers now are really focused on healing.
I will lose my doodoo if they ever release a dungeon that hits like a wet noodle on release in Shadowbringers (I'm look at you swallow's compass) when they have so many jobs that can heal now.

I don't really view it as lazy. If anything I see it as them combating AST's rng with their cards. I mean, yeah it's kind of boring for every card to literally just be damage buffs but at the end of the day, they are going to be getting more actual uses out of every card they draw rather than the current fishing for balance mess and discarding cards that you really don't want. They now have a consistent and reliable way to increase the groups/raid's damage output without suffering from bad rng, less rng isn't exactly a bad thing. I just view this from a differen't perspective.
Hmm, well as a SCH main I think it's important for us to follow these steps:
1. Take a deep breath.
2. Properly evaluate the situation.
3.
4.Wait for the update to come out and decide if we like it or not.
'Till sea vores all.
