Or, you could just carry 2 Scholars, or two WHM's, or one of each, and have everyone in your raid/static/group bring along a basic food item that gives +8% Direct damage as its bonus, and you have a 60m Astro-buff in your pocket that persist through deaths. Not sure. Let's go quite roughly:
Every 30 seconds, someone gets 6% dmg up.
When you have your 3 seals, you can switch to Crown cards, so it's 8% dmg up every 30 seconds.
(i'm assuming you use redraw and sleeve draw to make sure the proper person has the proper card)
Every 3 minutes the party has 6% dmg up.
WHM : has wings.
you see where I'm going? Sure, it seems AST cards have a lower potency than the 4.0 version, but any buff is better than no buff at all. And healing potencies of AST have nothing to be ashamed of, compared to WHM.
I'm pretty sure "meta comps" will still be AST / SCH
War is Hell, and Life becomes a Sin, when young men must fight the wars, that older men begin.
Two SCH has never and will never be meta due to shields not stacking.
Still wasn't meta, and this was back when Selene was better than Eos.

A couple things came to mind talking with a guildie.
Why do we need to make up color seals that randomly come up? We already have red (DPS), green (healers) and blue (tanks). If you need one of each for the best buff, that encourages the spreading of the card-love.
Second, the cards can have a damage buff, but they should also then have another effect. For examples, use it on a:
Tank: Dmg buff, little heal or shield.
DPS: Dmg buff, crit or direct hit buff.
Healer: Dmg buff, MP regen
Get all the seals, great, spend them on something else like a charge attack or something.
The root, root cause, though? Healers have no flow. DPS and Tanks have openers and rotations. Healers? Nope. RDM is a good model, they have to balance white and black magic, but then can unleash some tasty specials once they've gathered enough. The Mhach angel/Sin Eater used inverted White Magic for attacks. Go after it.
A buff that stacks upon food buff, which every raider should have while entering high end content.
I understand frustration, but if this is how the discussion is going, it's not interesting nor constructive for anyone.
My point is any DMG buff (AST/SCH), as small as it is, is better than no DMG buff at all (WHM).
Meta comps will def still be sch / ast while whm will still be used a ton in prog. I just think the new mechanic is incredibly uninteresting and not engaging. I think its safe to say most people expected to see something raid utility wise for whm to everything just baffles me that's happened xd
At the end of the day though meta really doesn't mean a whole lot unless your going for a parse or speed kill and in all my cases no ones even ever cared that i've raided with myself.
And im fine with the AOE skill you get with the 3 seals being that 'extra damage' that all the Meta players care about to the exclusion of every single other thing.A buff that stacks upon food buff, which every raider should have while entering high end content.

But dont gut my ENTIRE card system to make it that 1, single, buff.
Otherwise you may as well remove the entire UI and come out and admit that the 'change' to the card system isnt a change to it, its a removal of it. Its literally 1 single target buff, and then an AOE version of that buff. Thats it.
The entire 'mechanic' that made Astro's different than WHM's is removed. Replaced with just 2 skills to put on the hotbar that dont care what the Flashy UI is thats there.
