Obviously when made aware yes, but I only act when I use the product in question. I don't play overwatch so I can only sign a petition/donate cash. If I stopped to hunt down every reference of racism it would be literally my only job. That doesn't mean I can't be ticked by something in a game I love.

I personally think people are focusing too much on my comparison to a Nazi uniform, it wasn't my intention to say they are the exact same thing, its just a similar feeling that's invoked. I stated that in my original post, so I'm not sure why people are harping on this specific point. I never stated it was the same.

You drew the comparison between a school uniform and a military uniform belonging to one of the most violent, hateful and cruel groups to have ever existed.

I understand what the uniform represents for some people but the fact remains that it's a civilian outfit, and it has other contexts besides the korean occupation due to it being actual traditional clothing normal japanese people wore every day. The nazi uniform only has severely negative military, racial and political contexts. There is nothing even vaguely positive attached to it, and it most certainly was not ever considered to be traditional clothing normal civilians wore.

I can see the intention behind the comparison but as I said before it is misleading. The Star of David the jews were forced to wear in WW2 is a much more appropriate comparison, because that was on everyday clothing ordinary citizens were forced to wear.

I don't think your post needed the nazi comparison to make a point. I think pointing out that the uniform is one of the symbols of the japanese occupation in Korea would have been enough.

Thank you for your sources. I tried to find some sort of reply from the Dev's about this issue and I couldn't, so I'm really glad someone could find it and share it with everyone. You're welcome! I do believe fostering a discussion is important especially about this very controversial topic. I do have to say however we all shouldn't be knee jerk about it and let our emotions cloud us and keep us blindsided to one thing. Discussion is healthy, but I think before we paint the big evil bad we should do more research until there is a lot more information and facts on such a controversial topic such as this.

Agreed on discussion being important, and that it's good to try and avoid knee jerk reactions because sometimes there's additional info complicating things. Another point I think might be good to keep in mind in heavy convos like this (not directed at you or Xiou specifically, just in-general), it's okay to adjust opinions as more info comes out and as you hear more stances. The internet is pretty prone to this idea that once you say something that's how you must feel forever, but it's just not realistic.

Also, idk if it might help but there are some solid discussions on Asian Boss imo that have English subtitles. I think there have been conversations there about the Asian WWII legacy and how it hits people from different countries effected.

Just because a thing is not offensive to one tribal member doesn't mean you speak for all 1200 tribes, all 6 million of us, or even your own tribe. Does your tribe have a history of warbonnets? Mine does, and we have very strict rules about it, considering it akin to US military medals (See stolen valor for examples.)

I can see where people are coming from, but SE even went out of their way to address these concerns early on. So...as far as I'm concerned the matter was settled before this thread popped up.
