The Long-Awaited Library

The Shadowbringers media tour embargo drops this morning, and included is this unexpected little treat: we're actually getting an accessible, open-world public library.

I know a lot of us have requested something like this at some point, if for no other reason than to have a thematic place to AFK. I know that made it disappointing when it turned out Gubal would only ever be a dungeon. But here we are! Will we actually be able to read any books there? Will there be any quests related to it? Will it enhance the lore in any way? Big shrug. But it's aesthetically pleasing, and that's a great start. (Maybe we'll get some furnishings out of it.)

The fact that it's in the Rapture zone combines two of my longest-running unfulfilled wishes into something I'm pretty excited about, to be honest. Unless an open-world purple Promyvion shows up, I hereby declare Crystarium the best zone in the game, I'd like to thank all the areas who lost.

I hope we can read the books in there and get more lore tidbits then what we got in dungeons like gubal library, dusk vigil,etc.

This sounds like it's gonna be a cool place.

Didn't we technically get a Library zone with the Scholasticate? Granted that was more a tiny room than something this grand (still waiting on that blackboard as housing furniture, Yoshida!). Speaking of, one hopes this has a similar side story attached to it... Lots of lore to fill in on the First, would be a good way to go about it.

Whenever I see you post around you're one of the biggest lorehounds on this forum, so I'm not surprised you're in love with it!

Very excited to experience this, especially as it's open world. I don't know if it'll have mention of the New World in it (since it's the First) but I'm really hoping there's something. That culture really interests me the most.

Sounds like a good zone to relax and hopefully pore over some nice lore tidbits when I don't feel like doing anything too intensive in-game.

I was thinking about this, myself. I imagine that it won't be a secret where the Bringer of Night is coming from, will it? In the end it'll probably be common knowledge that The First was split off from The Source 12,000 years ago and that we're from that original dimension, yeah? Maybe it wouldn't be so strange that they'd want to start cataloging all the information they could about what the "original world" is like and where the prophesied hero came from. Might be a convenient excuse for SE to start shoving in all that orphaned lore they have nowhere to add, lol.

An Accessible library is all ive ever wanted :O its literally the first place Ive ever gone to in any single player rpg and i would spend all the time needed to read every single book. If this becomes an actual thing Im afraid its gonna be a bit til I hit 80 lol
