Says the person who owns what, 25 plots?
What a pointless statement. Unlike the OP, I worked for them. If Square Enix would have kept the 2.1 prices, I most likely wouldn't own that many and more importantly, not everyone would feel entitled to owning real estate in this game.
I think there are way too many houses, the housing areas used to have a lot of people but now all of them are empty and there is no interraction with your neighbors.
Not that it's any of my business. But if you do own almost a whole ward. What's the point? You cant flip houses anymore lol.
The fact that there aren't enough plots for everyone doesn't mean that someone hasn't worked for it.
She could be swimming in gil and still unable to get a house. Most people can't stand in front of a placard spamming buttons for hours on end.
If people have to crowd around a single placard spam-clicking it in the hopes of owning a plot for hours on end, there are not enough houses. Sorry people aren't bleeding gil like you evidently are but I took a look at those old housing prices and they were absolutely ludicrous.
What a pointless statement. Everyone has worked for their house - or are working for them now - in one way or another. Whether they worked to save up the gil or spent countless hours scoping out empty plots and clicking on the placard, it's still work.
Honestly? Everyone should be able to have a house if they already meet the requirements to do so (i.e. having enough gil and being the appropriate Grand Company rank). Not to mention it is an advertised feature of the game. While it may just be in a little blurb on the site, I will say that I have had a few friends who were very much incentivized into playing the game in the first place by the prospect of being able to decorate their own house. Finally, if there are other MMOs where everyone is able to own a house, then there is absolutely no reason why FFXIV can't be the same.
What's the point of being gil capped if there's nothing to spend money on?
It is pretty naive to think SE has done anything to prevent house reselling considering FC houses can be traded, like they always could, and players resell desirable plot locations for personal housing relocation. The only thing that has changed in the reselling of houses since 2.1 is that you can't buy your way in other than through an FC house. That's it.
There would be enough plots for everyone if small houses still costed 15-20m. If you don't own a plot despite "swimming in gil", you're either not even trying, refusing to purchase someone's FC house or you don't want to get off your populated server when there are plenty of available plots, near the minimum value, on other servers.
I acquired all of these on my own. I think out of the 23, previously 24, FC houses I own, I only bought 4. The 3 personals obviously couldn't be bought, but I managed to land them in the non-subdivision part of the ward until one of the remaining neighbors I have grabs that eviction check. I leveled up those 3 characters. I grinded those FCs to rank 6/8. I grinded to gil cap in order to be able to acquire houses/offer ridiculous amounts of gil to my neighbors. I beat the purchase timer numerous time. You don't see me complaining. You don't see other multiple house owners complain about the purchase timer, they just roll with it.
Players complaining about the previous housing system, despite being flawless, is the reason why aspiring house owners are dealing with this system. That's called justice I guess. If people have to crowd around a single placard spam-clicking it in the hopes of owning a plot for hours on end, there are not enough houses. Sorry people aren't bleeding gil like you evidently are but I took a look at those old housing prices and they were absolutely ludicrous. What a pointless statement. The 2.1 prices were awesome as it gave housing a purpose and an actual meaning. You had FCs trash talking in front of empty plots because they had to gamble with the devaluation timer. That timer has been completely pointless on any non-dead server for more than two years. Whether you like it or not, housing is supposed to take gil out of the game and it's really not doing a great job right now because everyone and their chocobo can afford to purchase a small house.
You only work for something if you end up acquiring it. Until then, we can argue that it's wasted time. Just like complaining on a forum.
What would make me super happy was if SE put in a way so I could spend gil to make my apartment bigger. Whether I can just expand the one floor or have a coolio two floor apartment. I wouldn't even mind not having garden access if I could just make the room a bit bigger.
