That's exactly why I used quotation marks - it doesn't mean I agree to it, but the very quests to unlock the housing districts states it's reserved for the most wealthy adventurers, so it's pretty clear housing wasn't made with the intention of everyone getting a house and players to compete for plots. Granted, they likely didn't foresee all the BS and loopholes players would do to get a spot either, but even if that policy has changed after the years it's not as easy as simply adding more wards, unless they add A LOT of them.
Even If/when they open Ishgard, I expect all house plots will be taken within a week and there will still be people without one, taking us back to square one.

There aren't many ways to defend the housing system. Putting in a limited amount of slots for accessing content is never a good thing. Especially when accessing said content doesn't even require skill. Why? Because the more popular the game gets, the more players feel they're being punished simply for starting the game after other people did.

Whatever SE's intentions were, they clearly didn't think about the long-term effects of the housing system.

I honestly hate to be 'that' guy, I really do...but housing is a "privilege", not a right. There will always be people bound to not have one.

They pay a subscription, just like you, they are entitled to have the ability to participate in the content that is offered. The gil requirement is akin to that of a gear requirement to savage raids. If they can meet the requirement, they should have the ability to enjoy the content offered.

Many times we have been told is because of "server limits" and every time they add a new ward is nothing but putting a bandage over a big issue.

Entire housing system needs to be reworked and if anything made into something like Wildstar had.

I think there are way too many houses, the housing areas used to have a lot of people but now all of them are empty and there is no interraction with your neighbors.

What a pointless statement. Unlike the OP, I worked for them. If Square Enix would have kept the 2.1 prices, I most likely wouldn't own that many and more importantly, not everyone would feel entitled to owning real estate in this game.

What would make me super happy was if SE put in a way so I could spend gil to make my apartment bigger. Whether I can just expand the one floor or have a coolio two floor apartment. I wouldn't even mind not having garden access if I could just make the room a bit bigger.

Am so sorry to hear that DC lacks of plots for players, in Chaos DC Louisouix and Omega are full of small plots for sale for the players that will join and rejoin this expansion, both with around 400 s and 120 s respectively.

Louisouix server has s plots available for 1.4 mil at the moment.

One of the problems with the current housing system is that it is highly abused by people using bots to spam click signs. I've seen people still trying to interact with the placard and buy the house hours after the house has been bought.

The lack of proper gardening makes it a bad equivalent sadly. Honestly if they would just give us upgradeable apartments this issue would be solved instantly. Let us start with a small room then sink money into making it bigger. Maybe not MANSION big, but something about the size of a medium with access to a gardening balcony would solve a lot of concerns in a day.
