Does the OP not know what a Chess game is?
Chess pieces have actual genders now?
Yea, forget the expansion, some people just need time away from the Internet for a while.

That would be the King, not the Knight
As others said earlier this thread, plenty of potential reasons for there not to be a Knight turret.
1. The initial Machinist questline revolves around trying to improve Ishgardes defenses, which was entirely composed of Knights, by letting any man, even the lowborne of the Brume, be capable of picking up a weapon and fighting for Ishgarde. It ends with the agreement that Machinists supporting Knights makes for the strongest defense. In this respect, the Knights are your fellow party members, or at least the tank. Designing a Knight turret or automaton would suggest replacing Ishgardes knights, or in a gameplay aspect, replacing the Tank. So if Knight ever is implemented it would likely be an emnity generating machine, not a damaging one.
2. Ishgarde already has Knight automatons in the Vault. Name is already taken. We do NOT want to be sued by the Holy See for copyright infringement, believe me! Remember what Alphinaud and Tataru had to go through just because of a suspicion of breaking the law? Imagine if they had just plain straight up broken it!
You know what..? I never even thought of chess when playing MCH, I was just literally thinking the naming had something to do with Ishgard and their culture...learned something new lol
Im confused why the title means any exact anyways. I mean the Fae ruler is referred to (quite a few times) as the King of the Fae and yet Titania is CLEARLY a female (and this is even referenced in the game how the ruler is ALWAYS called King) so yeah...just cause the Automaton is called Queen doesn't immediately equate to a female robot. Also I agree that its likely the same as the fact that bishop and rook are (well were in bishop case) chess piece names and thus Queen is also chess reference.
My response is just a reference to the band Queen. :P You could say what you will about Freddy Mercury, but that guy could sing!Come on your gonna give the giant robots Queen as the default gender? I was gonna name my bot Boyo and have him be my faithful gay bro companion and everything.
Cant you just, leave the gender of the Automation ambiguous like you did with the Puppets in XI? That way we can name and RP our bots however we want
I know you and your playerbase are scared of the concept of big men let alone big robot men but just let us have King and Queen or just no gender at all.
And I know what people are gonna say *Well men can be queens* this is a JRPG and the fanbase is like 80% hetero white dudes, they cant even grasp the concept of a guy being over 200 pounds let alone being a Queen.
When I served in the Army back about 13 years ago, Airborne Infantry called themselves the Queens of Battle while Field Artillerymen called themselves the Kings. Infantry was an all male institution at the time. So yeah you're right, Chess is a neutral ungendered game and reference.
I think people fail to realize that what was once masculine and feminine pronouns and references have long been disgendered in most Western Cultures. Furthermore what is considered masculine and feminine is no longer tied to gender or sex. And this is in both western and eastern cultures. The future is here. And its more diverse than anyone could have imagined.
The Knight Turret is likely the big boi that shoots the Satellite Beam. Kinda bummed we lost Bishop though. I think "we" are the King because if we die it's Checkmate for the rest of our toys.
