    Hi!

    I have

Cerebral palsy: one hand is essentially a claw, meaning my left hand is the hand I play with,

spinal stenosis: shards of bone growing into my spinal column

    a weak heart

    blindness in one eye

    dyscalculia and dyslexia

and a bunch of other intellectual disability stuff.

I main WHM on Balmung, and I was wondering where the other players w/ disabilities are and what you like to play? Do you have any frustrations? Any stories of triumph?

I get a lot of flack for healing too slow, or forgetting to take my heart meds, and yelling to take meds in Ul'dah shout chat. And there are times I wonder if the SE dev staff has any disabled QA staff testing things, as there is some content I'll never see.

THAT SAID, I love how responsive SE's devs are to the community, and that $120 device everyone hates? Is like a godsend to me. I love FFXIV.

I also saved a group where a newbieplayer tank kept running into an AoE to fight because it was 'where the biggest orange circle was' while a dps just.... stood in same spot over and over!

I'm also really looking forward to the new device!
I have Cerebral Palsy. A mild case that really only effects my hand writing and way I walk. I feel for ya man.

Also a friendly bit of advice! If you have been diagnosed with Autism? Get a second and third opinion. They hand out that diagnosis too freely. You might not have to have that label. Cheers!

i wasn't going to reply mostly because ive always hated yo think about it but.. personaly i have muscular dystroph. was born with this curse.. i use to hate playing games or even the ideal of it until i got out of highschool. I did watch my cousin play games on ps1-2 and dark age of Camelot though. However i cant go out much at all i only can leave home once or 2x every 3 months without my husband's help i wouldn't even get to leave at all. So i start playing games that felt like being free and unchained.. Still if i could i wouldnt play games at all. for me games like this is just a way to kinda get that free adventure ability.

proplem is ill admit I'm unstable so i don't deal with i guess youd say emotions and how i view stuff quitely if I think its wrong or w,e ill say it and ill let my true wild nature do as it pleases. although it gets me hated and banned alot id rather that than tell a lie and fake smile because people want me to

A lot of people are glad of an autism diagnosis, and probably have it because they sought it out for official confirmation.

The increasing amount of diagnoses is to do with awareness of it in the first place, and perhaps increased willingness to talk about it.

Knowing we have a condition and how it affects us is important. It helps us to understand how our brains work, and what we need to look out for.

The terminology has shifted too. I have Asperger's, which used to be set apart as the "high-functioning" end of the autism spectrum, but now has officially been merged in and it's all just "autism" regardless of the degree. I'm not sure I like that, and prefer to stick to the original term.

Autism is the new ADHD/ADD in the fact its way over diagnosed. There doesn't have to be a diagnosis for everything. Some people are not social butterflies and its okay. I'll link you to a study later on that said (paraphrasing of course) that with the rise of the itnernet and online communities Autism has increased as well. You have to learn to socialize like anything else in life. And when people shut themselves in to play video games/watch anime/ and not hang around people? That causes social ignorance. Autism is very real, and very debilitating, but what used to be called Aspergers? now ASD? Was too common to make sense.

I have Aspergers Syndrome, Auditory Processing Disorder and occasionally an RSI flare up from playing too many computer games as a child.

Aspergers just makes me a little asocial at times

APD makes it so I sometimes mishear things or makes someones sentence completely incoherent at times. I haven't been officially diagnosed with this because it takes too much time as an adult. I rarely Voice chat on this though so not normally a problem here.

RSI makes me have to take a break ranging from a day to a few weeks depending on severity. Over the years the frequency and severity has reduced though

My disability isn't really deep, and I personally don't consider it a disability, but clinically, it is a disability; I'm on the autism spectrum, but I'm what one lady called "fully-functional" -- god, I hate that term. She said that to my mom, years ago, and she was lucky I wasn't there to give her the death glare.
