Is there a mount quest like this?

My wife and I are new to the game and are playing as a WHM/BRD duo. We are low level, just hit 40, and not yet in a FC. We don't want to guild-hop so we're waiting to get to know the community before we apply.

Meanwhile, we would like to earn a mount that we can quest for, preferably able to be earned by a grinding duo. Not looking for an RNG dungeon drop, must be a guaranteed reward (like, faction).

We did this in WoW, and earned a pair of beautiful white striped Wintersaber tigers. Took a LONG time, but we loved the effort and the payoff.

Anything like that in Eorza? Thanks!

The closest thing I can think of is Beastmen quests. Once you reach lv41, you can do the beastmen quests. Each of the ARR ones lets you purchase a mount for 120,000g once you've reached a certain level of reputation with them.

It's not exactly what you're asking for. They're solo quests (though you could help each other complete the quests), and they're not really something you can grind, since you're limited to picking up 3 quests per beastmen faction per day (up to a total of 12 per day). The quests are not hard at all, so I doubt you'll feel too accomplished when you finish them. You can probably finish 3 quests in 15 minutes or less. It just takes a couple months of doing them every day to accrue enough reputation, since the quests are so limited.

The only real grindy mount I can think of for you at your level are the mounts obtained by RECEIVING player commendations (those commendations you can award at the end of a duty). If you get 500, you get a Gold Magitek mount. If you get 3,000, you get a Fat Chocobo with a fancy hat. DPS don't really get commendations as much as healers though, so whichever one of you is the WHM is bound to get there first.

    Let's see... other grindy mounts...

If you're not opposed to PvP, there are several mounts you get for winning enough of the group-PvP matches.

There's also some mounts you can buy in the Gold Saucer, once you grind enough MGP. Not really a group activity though.

Small correction, ARR beast tribes don't have the same 3 quest per day limitation, since you unlock new quest givers each reputation up. By the end, you can, in theory, spend 9 of your 12 allowances on one beast tribe. (at least, I think there are only three quest givers each. Except for Ixal, where you could run all 12 of your allowances and still have quests left over).

Otherwise, OP probably could've gone to this trouble, but googling ff14 mounts, looks like all you've really got other than what's suggested is from things like PotD/HoH (could technically duo, but still remains random drops), or a couple Eureka mounts, also still random. I guess with 2 of you, you could technically run Diadem for Pegasus.

Elite mark hunting to earn the Centurio Tiger is a very long grind - you have to kill, from memory, 2000 S-rank marks and 3000 A-ranks. Some S-ranks are triggered by defeating lots of small enemies or completing FATEs in the area.

In a few days, you'll be able to farm Duties for the event and earn some mounts, including the Pegasus (If you don't want to farm Diadem) but only for the next month.

You can earn a Wyvern mount from farming HW/SB Hunts for seals (Though, not particularly a group orientated activity, given you can mostly just do it from daily Rank 1-3 and weekly B ranks...) to buy logs and trade them in.

There's the Astrope from doing 2,000 Mentor Roulettes (Which is also a 2 seater mount)

There's Ixion from doing the Ixion FATE and turning in 12 Ixion Horns.

Rathalos from doing The Great Hunt (Extreme) trial and turning in 50 Rathalos Scale+

Outside of that there are a bunch of less group orientated mount grinds... Such as PvP, Gold Saucer, Beast Tribes and using Duty Finder as the Tank jobs...

There isn't a whole lot of things you can duo at lower levels, especially for mounts. Your best bet is the beast tribe option.

One thing you can do after hitting fifty (and beating enough of post ARR to unlock them) is form pony farms with your wife.. while it would require more people than just you two
most people are still willing to do it for a variety of reasons (and especially with shadowbringers coming to the game there will be a bunch running said content again, if only to get shiny weapons for the two new jobs... and most of them shouldn't need the majority of the mounts).. and you at least can be in the party doing it together.

As long as you're willing to pay for it, you can actually earn a mount by doing a quest together - the Eternal Bond quest, which is the equivalent to getting married and comes with a few other perks aswell. You'll get a mount from it if you choose any of the paid options, which should be about 7€ per person (you both need to be level 50 though and it doesnt involve a lot of grinding...)

there are also all the HW and SB EX primal mounts. There is an RNG element to it, but there's also a longer term guaranteed way to get the same mounts via the totem currency you earn each time you successfully complete the instances.
