"Unable to complete version update. [30426][19900][740]"

I'm on my fifth fresh reinstall and I'm at my wits end with this. I've been having a few dx11.exe crashes that then slowly devolved into errors like this so I decided to reinstall, I'm given this error upon clicking the "Play DirectX 11" button:

Unable to complete version update. [30426][19900][740]

I should note that I'm playing on Steam, I have done some brief googling and tried restarting my computer, looking into the ffxivgame.ver and ffxivboot.ver files to make sure that the numbers are both the same, I am currently on a fresh install and have done literally nothing to the game and it's giving me this error.

I've done a clean sweep through with my firewall and antivirus and I have no malware or any malicious software on my computer that could be preventing the game from launching. I'm at a loss. Please help!

How long have you been having this issue? Are you connected directly to the router or are yo using WIFI?

    Hope to see you online!

    Hi there!

I've been having this issue for about 5 days now. I'm connected directly via an ethernet cable.

Just gave that a shot - no give unfortunately. :c

EDIT: I have noticed an indifference between my ffxivgame.ver and ffxivboot.ver files.

    My ffxivgame.ver reads "2019.05.09.0000.0000" whereas my ffxivboot.ver reads "2019.04.19.0000.0001".

Which is what I see in the window of the FF14 launcher, "2019.04.19.0000.0001(4143105)".

Don't know if that's of any relevance!

Thank you for the update RosaSnow.

There are a few suggestions I can give to help strengthen your home network:

    1) Make sure your anti-virus/firewall has the appropriate exceptions for Final Fantasy XIV

    2) Try a clean boot. Simply open the task manager and select the 'Start up' tab. Disable everything here and restart the PC. This will make sure that no background processes are interfering with the game.

    3) Check the following Port Ranges on your router/modem to ensure that they have been opened:
    ▼TCP
    54992 through 54994,
    55006 through 55007,
    55021 through 55040
Your ISP can open these ports for you.

    4) The game will use the Internet Explorer web browser to connect to the internet. Open Internet Explorer, then open the "Tools" setting, go to "Internet Options" and adjust the following settings:
    - Under the "General" tab, please delete ALL browser history.
    - Under the "Security" tab, please move the slider to the lowest possible settings or no higher than "Medium"
    - Under the "Privacy" tab, click “Advanced” and select ‘Accept’ under both First Party and Third Party Cookies.
    - Under the "Advanced" tab, please make sure that "Allow software to run or install even if signature is invalid" is CHECKED.
    - Make sure that all SSL and TLS (EXCEPT SSL 3.0) are CHECKED. [SSL 3.0 should be UNCHECKED]
    - Hit "Apply" to save the settings, and then "OK, to close the Internet Options menu.

We hope we can be of assistance in helping you enjoy the exciting world of Final Fantasy XIV!
