Is it the extended animation that takes twice as long as the success animation? I thought they did away with it completely when they added in the retry option.

The fail animation is still there if you meld your own, my question was the length of the animation. In 2.0, the fail animation was twice the success animation (~6 seconds vs ~3 seconds), during which time you were animation locked.
