Need some advice - Playing on PS4 and want to add PC version

Currently playing on PS4, but I'd like to be able to switch between that and PC. My question is, what exactly do I need to get to be able to play on PC? With Shadowbringers coming so soon, and it says it includes Heavensward and Stormblood, maybe I would only need the basic game (ARR) to start? Not sure how that would work out though, since I have the whole game on PS4. I could just wait for Shadowbringers, but since I have not played on PC before, I'd like a little time to get used to it first. Any good advice for me?

You will need a base ARR whenever $20 (not sure if the Twitch Prime/Amazon Prime deal is still going), and for the cheapest options, start on PC with Shadowbringers basic for another $40. The ARR will at least allow you to login and work on your HUD. Now until SHB hits there will be some odd issues when playing on PC. I.E. won't be able to make Au Ra, it'll claim your EXP is locked at 50, it will not load into most expansion zones, exception being Shirogane.

Actually, as long as you are not buying through Steam you can get HW free as well, so you'll be able to get to 60 and make an Au Ra.

OP - if you only get the base game and HW and put them on you same service account as your PS4 service account you'll be able to play on both. Just be sure to log in an ARR or HW area if you are planning on logging in on the PC next. You can only log in with the version you've bought the license for. I've got the full license for both versions and go back and forth. I buy (preorder) the PS4 first, then get the PC a bit after release. I've never had an issue. I usually log in my starter city or the saucer.

Another important thing is to make sure you are not buying it through Steam. If you do, you'll be locked into Steam for all the expansions, too. And with the new requirements to be logged in through Steam's own servers, it could get very tricky to play.

Yeah, don't buy the Steam version. I couldn't buy the physical collector's edition for Heavensward back in the day and now Square's changing it that you have to have Steam on at all times. Regret my mistake I made almost five years ago :/

The only benefit to using steam is being able to use "Steam Pay" which is basically paying with your steam wallet. Think of this as a safer replacement for Crysta. I say safer because if anything goes wrong with buying Crysta, then Square-Enix is going to be mad at you and suspend/lock your account until it's fixed. If you add funds to your steam wallet and anything goes wrong, then you aren't being locked out of your Square-Enix account. Additionally, Steam probably gets a percentage of your subscription instead of Square-Enix.

In the past, you couldn't get a physical collector's edition with steam, but that did change with Shadowbringers. However, don't let anyone influence which PC version you buy. It all comes down to if you rather support Square-Enix OR Steam & Square-Enix. Just do your research.

you should be able to upload your settings to the server and just download them. unless ps4 versions cant upload.

Works fine, both versions. On issue is the waiting 23 hrs to upload.
