I know you did, that's why I'm letting you know how it's received.Let’s be real here, I meant exactly what I said, end of discussion.
Don't accuse others of being nitpicky if you can't take it yourself.
Not the same thing, and I already explained this if you bothered to read the sentence past the one you quoted. It's not just expansions, it's also happened during ARR's run. Allagan Tomestones of Philosophy was the very first tomestone currency in the game with Mythology being the weekly tomestone and both currencies were eventually phased out to make room for newer currencies. There definitely is a precedent for this.
3.5->4.0 was the first, and so far only, time they simultaneously phased out the latest tomestones AND put their gear on an older tomestone. They did this to accommodate for the level cap increase and because presumably they don't want too many types of tomestone available at any one time. They did not do this for 2.5->3.0, because the latest tomestone available at that point (poetics) were kept in the game at that point to serve as the "level 50" tome.

If you want to phrase it that way, yes.3.5->4.0 was the first, and so far only, time they simultaneously phased out the latest tomestones AND put their gear on an older tomestone. They did this to accommodate for the level cap increase and because presumably they don't want too many types of tomestone available at any one time. They did not do this for 2.5->3.0, because the latest tomestone available at that point (poetics) were kept in the game at that point to serve as the "level 50" tome.
Another way of viewing it is that for both of the previous expansions, all old tomestone gear became available for Poetics, and new tomestones were introduced for the new gear.
So they have done this twice beore, establishing a pattern, and is now continuing along that pattern.

It... completely is the same thing. You're being nitpicky for the sake of it.
If I die, forgive me. I used to be a Dragoon.

Agreed. They only ever phase out currencies to avoid clutter so people won't need to juggle so many of them to buy gear. Whether it's through the game's normal patch cycle or through the start of the expansion, the reasoning is always the same.
If I die, forgive me. I used to be a Dragoon.
No problem. I can understand how it all might be a little confusing if you haven't been through this before.
While it's entirely possible SE could curveball us on this, it's unlikely as they're not prone to changing a process that has worked for them before and folding previous expansions into poetics is doing just that. The other factor is allowing current tomes to trade for newer ones would make it possible to gain a headstart on level 80 gear before having played 80 content and they've never liked that sort of thing.

This will now be the third expansion where Poetics will be used as the "non-current expansion" currency, and two new currencies will be introduced for Max level content.Yes, this is what happened for all of the one expansion we've been through so far
It will also be the 4th version of 14 where those two currencies will likely be obsoleted before the end, the first to be replaced in x.2 and the second to be replaced in x.4.
We will likely then see the 5.2 and 5.4 currencies obsoleted with the release of 6.0, where poetics will then continue to be the old currency.

Don't forget, if you're worried about gearing for 71-80, that unless SE changes the trend, All the leveling dungeons will award you a piece of gear for your current job you DON'T already own (excluding weapons). Buy the lvl 70 Scaevian gear with poetics come 5.0 patch, ride that to probably 73-74, then just chain run a dungeon to update your gear as needed. Once you hit 80, it's back on the tome treadmill.
