Viera Feet - Aren't they supposed to be digitigrade?

They should make a few race specific shoes for Viera (and something else for each other race).

I haven't really seen any reason to make all footwear high heeled for Viera. The only way they could use high heels is by having human feet, and human feet can also wear flat shoes.

Pretty good example of this are the Khajiit and Argonian's from Morrowind. They couldn't wear any of the game's boots because of their digitigrade legs and it drove the developer's and many players insane. To the point that in Oblivion and all titles going forward they changed their legs to be more human like. And this was back in 2002. If they couldn't fudge it back then without difficulty I find it hard to believe they could today with our more complex models.

Archeage I think handles the feet pretty well on their Cat race. They do have some fully enclosed shoes/boots, but they quite often they go more for a "guard" type stype. Some examples:





But yeah, with Viera - they do always seem to be wearing heels in XII, and as shown before, tactics has heels/flat feet. I'm not worried about them not being digitigrade myself, but I do hope they get some nice heel options

The amount of work to convert them all must be enormous. They haven't even finished the head gear and they're working hard at it. I suspect all the new gear that is coming for Viera will probably be what most would expect them to look like. We'll have to wait and see I suppose.

Either the Viera having that kind of feet in previous titles, or not... I think it would be extra nice and interesting if they had them in XIV... Just to stray a little bit more from the "tall human with bunny ears" silhouette.

But I can see that would be a footwear nightmare, even worse than the helmet dilemma, so I get why they chose flat feet.

Is this FFXII? Last time I checked, it wasnt - modeling something after something else isnt the same as replicating it 1:1, you still have a certain amount of "creative freedom" which might be necessary to make your model work in its new environment, which is apparently the case here.

A decent example would be how XIV's races were pulled from XI, but things were changed a wee bit. Taru were placed on a Rack, and poor Galka lost their tails (RIP).

They took a model, and reshaped it in FFXIV's esthetic. So those Vieras are FFXIV's Vieras. And that's that. They are fine the way they are and actually quite beautiful imo.

I mean you can just use the starting Viera shoes and dye them. They're arched in the same way to to make them look digitigraded.

Based on what Im seeing, they are plantigrade, because as someone pointed out, they do have heels on their shoes. That being said, I can see why people assume digitigrade considering the angle of the food in heels is extreme, if not impossible, for standard plantigrade feet without breaking the ankle or toes.

Beyond that, I dont see why this is a huge issue. At the end of the day, Viera were gonna be more on the Bunny Girl side of the spectrum and not furry/beastial. This shouldnt be a surprise at this point? They werent gonna be a female Hrothgar equivalent from the get go.

I don't care what their feet look like tbh, at all, as long as I get those ONE pair of decent high heels in the ENTIRE game ...I'm cool lol

My character (when playing a Viera) will never, ever, wear anything on her feet except those ONE decent pair of shoes... (unless the twelve are magically aligned one day and they add a *gasp* second decent pair for all races!! ugh)
