Viera Feet - Aren't they supposed to be digitigrade?

Okay, so I didn't see anyone else talking about this but it bothers me too much not to say something.

Viera have several leporine features that makes them unique. Ears, feet, and even their hands. Their feet are probably the most unique, as they are digitigrade like many animals rather than humans. ( Digitigrade basically just means their heels don't touch the ground similar to a cat's or a rabbit.) This is a really iconic feature of them viera. It makes than different from just another rather with tacked on animal ears.

FFXIV did say when considering adding viera that this was a particular challenge to add in the game, and mentioned it might have been a reason we didn't get viera in Stormblood.

And then the benchmark came and we just have... normal feet?

The viera feet are supposed to be digitigrade. Not really only digitigrade, but they're clawed at the front. More like

I understand that maybe not all armor pieces will be able to have heels and such but, can't the small clothes at least be digitigrade? I was surprised more people weren't upset about this, or rather that it wasn't mentioned at all honestly.

Does anyone else share my concerns about this? I was really disappointed to see they completely just ignored this feature of the viera. I would really like them to at least add in a different small clothes option to show off the difference in their foot structure from the other races.

Those above hands/feet look like the things of nightmares.

Viera originated from Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, and the majority of their footwear in that game's artwork (along with the sequel, FFTA2) depicts them as having flat feet. And even in FF12, if you look at the structure of their legs they are clearly plantigrade, but wearing very high heeled footwear.

Much like their "canon" bunny tails and shorter Feol Viera, they were never actually digitigrade.

You're just gonna have to use the race gear shoes, some of the really good high heel shoes and claws of the beast, no biggy.

It's a little complicated since the Tactics Advance art was less consistent in that regard. In some of it they had claws on their hands and clawed digitigrade feet, in others they have no claws and are wearing flat shoes.

XII did have these features though and I would have liked to see them for sure, but they were almost definitely not modeled onto the XIV versions because of the difficulty it would involve. All flat-footed shoe models would have had to be remodeled for Viera to accommodate this. They were at the very least aware of their unique feet though, since the 2015 concept art has them.

This is a very similar situation to the Hrothgar as well where their First counterpart race, Ronso, had digitigrade feet in their game of origin. They also only have claws while wearing their racial starting gear and lose them if its removed, as it would again require remodeling gloves to accommodate them (wouldn't have minded them pulling an Aion and making them only disappear when gloves are equipped tho). We'll have to see if we meet any Ronso in ShB but I wouldn't be surprised if they just had Hrothgar models with no modifications, despite their FFX appearance.

Oh are they Rosen? I didn't play so I didn't know actually! I'll look into it, but only knowing ff12 Viera they really did look to have digitigrade feet!

Oh! Also thank you for this! I was confused!

They only look like it, but to be digitigrade, they would have to stand and walk on their toes. Their footwear have visible heels which touch the ground, supporting the weight of their foot. If they were digitigrade, they would not need that support.

I must admit, I'm slightly disappointed both Viera and Hrothgar have normal human feet, when they both could've had a different flavor to accentuate their 'beastly race' looks (at the very least default claws :C). That said, what's done is done, I'll just glamour the werewolf feet on them and call it a day.
