I'd like to see a bit more reactiveness, too, but I'd rather not lose the dramatic entry, either, so long as the duration doesn't start ticking down until he truly starts combat...Hopefully that got their attentions. So from the action trailer it took the robot 6 whole second from when it was summoned to when it first hit the target. The is very very long time. Is there a way to spawn him closer to the target or have a placement marker? Also speeding up the animation will help.
