New Scholar with trust issues on his fairy.

I'm very new to the game, just reached level 32 and got the summoner and scholar jobs. I want to be a main healer and the scholar looked like it was the perfect class for a noob, having a summon that auto-heals the party.

My issue with the fairy is that i can't really say when she will start healing. So, how much can i trust it to keep the party healed, and when should i step in to add my heal to it?

In lower content, your faerie will be able to solo-heal the place, you'll be able to DPS your heart out.
Use that content to judge how the faeries react. How they handle lower HP and how they will prioritize you over the tank lol.

After a good bit of testing over the years, I can tentatively say that your fairy will begin automatically queueing heals when any party member (including the fairy) loses about 25% of their HP. Keep in mind it will take a good few fairy casts to get a tank back up to full at later levels, and that’s when mobs aren’t attacking. If that doesn’t suit your needs, you can always put your fairy on Obey status and manually order them to heal while you’re dpsing, even continuously. I find it amusing when my tank friend is like “Why is the fairy following me around and healing when I’m at full? Is this a glitch?” Lol

Early dungeons Eos can just Embrace and Whispering Dawn the party most of the time, though the odd Physick may need to be thrown in. At higher levels (35-40 onwards maybe?) you'll be doing most healing as the master (SCH) and the fairy would be topping up Inbetween and buffing with whatever kit they have available. This pet system is having some changes come the new expac so most of the advice could be short lived anyway.

That's a really good point. I'm excited to see how these changes will feel, especially with the pet actions being incorporated as normal player actions.

Scholar is a great choice. Yay!

I've found myself acting as a DPS in a lot of lower level content, able to leave most to the fairy while only having to step in occasionally if a tank seemed to have a strong death wish.
In higher level content where I have to take a more active role as main healer, I think of the fairy as an assistant, adding aid to the decisions I'm making as a healer, decisions I would likely be making even if the fairy was not there at all.

Happy scholastic endeavors! Let me know if you ever need help ^_^
