I can't be the only one thinking this event is a bit overtuned in terms of rewards/cost?

From the 30th May till 27th June (assuming the server go down for 1 day maintenance like usual) you only have 27 days. I'm pretty sure the best way to do this event and what the majority is going to do is spam the lvl 50 raids since they amount to 2 tomestones and can be quick ~ 20min. If you just wanted to get the earrings you'd have to run it 50 times, or 2x a day for 27 days except the last 4 days, only once.

I read Yoshi-P saying that he doesn't want people to feel like they need to login and play all the time, but this will be pretty much it. Shortly before an expansion is coming out, having seen all the cool new abilities, going back to do boring lvl 50 stuff is just not fun.

Or am I missing something?

It'd definitely going to be a grind.

First few days I'm going to check PF for LotA, Syrcus Tower farms. 24 ppl motivated to do it fast should be good and might be able to get sub 20 min.

Queue'ing for them through DF could still be hit or miss, I get a horror story in Raid Roulette at least once a week... so...

If I have enough Friends, FC, Linkshell mates online then I might consider doing Prae runs. 8 ppl get tokens, casual relaxing... probably can do 2 runs in about the same amount of time it takes to do 3 runs of LotA or ST via DF.

If there are less ppl I know online (but at least 3...) then I might try speed runs of Tam tara or Qarn. See if we can clear them in 10-12 minutes.

I did 20 alliance raids today. They're actually really fast to do because they're pretty easy and a lot of people seem to be doing them so the queues are very fast.

But gosh 20...I think I'm going to dream about it tonight. I want my namazu earring so much.

The collector in me wants the Namazu earrings but...it's not really worth the time and effort for something I want just for the sake of having it and would likely never use.

Yeah the numbers seem a bit high, especially for how long it'll be up. If it was a permanent event then no problem cool cool. Maybe their new FATE system can convert some of these tokens and gobble up most if not all the rewards.

Youre not meant to get everything. Its mathmatically impossible secondly its easier to just get most of all the other stuff without trying to collect tomestones just do groups for bird farms and do beast tribe events for most all of it

I understand this is a matter of preference but personally I don't care to see any event designed specifically in a way that I can't reasonably obtain everything.

It doesn't have to be 20 minute events-I don't mind it being many hours (equation of time to acquire vs time event available), but there's a difference from what we have, as you say impossible, to being "reasonably complete-able" (not sure I'd personally say it's impossible but I would say it's not reasonable- imo).

Just rather not go down that road lol. Though like I said it's not unfathomable that someone else might think that's interesting choice, I however don't like the concept.

I already have nearly everything that's available. Only thing I think I'm missing are the earrings.

I don't think I want the rewards enough to run the most annoying dungeons available. It's bad enough if they pop up during a roulette or when I need some poetics.. but I can't see myself grinding them.

Don't think anything is wrong with it. He's right people don't need to log in to play all the time. What we are looking at here is a want not a need. Not everybody is OCD like a lot of us here on the forums about getting everything.

They implied this event will be recurring so the average player will eventually get these items just not during the first run. Also the earrings aren't necessarily a mandatory item. They were a luxury thing put in for hardcore players and average ones to get eventually when the event comes back again.

They mentioned additional rewards for fates. I'm betting these special poetic tombstones will be back when expansion launches and when event hits again you'll be able to use the ones you collected while doing fates from the expansion
