Musings on DNC and meta comps in ShB

Properly used, the Dancer should ideally be swapping dance partners. Crit buff the bard, swap, passive haste boost the Samurai or Blamurai, swap when someone's burst window is up, etc.

But we all know they don't go for technical play styles so just hook onto the Summoner.

So my understanding of Bard and Machinist is they have the lowest pDPS as a trade for their support skills. If Dancer is the same I don't think they'll need to lower it even further compared to those two because they will have plenty of dps downtime due to reapplying their dance buffs throughout the battle. So they'll have the lowest dps of all jobs when played optimally because their focus is buffing another person even more then has been seen in the game's lifespan rather than their own dps.

I'm not really sure if this matters in meta discussion (I'm not a raider) and padding out one person's numbers matters more in the meta then Dancer probably will end up meta. But if Dancer is working the way I think it is then it shouldn't be game breaking and could be swapped out with either Bard or Machinist and the overall party DPS should stay the same. Accounting for the dances actually being balanced instead of over or undertuned.

In general, I think DNC is gonna be a staple, Mechanist looks cool, but clunky (robot taking 5-6 seconds to even start attacking after spawn is... bad), and Bard seems have lost a fair bit.


I'm gonna assume NIN/MONK/DAN/SMN is gonna be the set up at start, RDM will probably replace SMN for Prog, and BLM will be seen more when fights are actually learned and doesn't need the back up ress from summoner

i think it will more likely be between monk or sam since nin seems to be spending more time on mudras in ShB

It will depend on if dnc is reliant on partner's weaponskills or just attacking skills as the former would force dnc to partner with the melees and the ranged physical the latter opens all up.

If they rely on weaponskills then i believe best partners order would be mnk/sam/nin/mch/brd/drg due to mnk getting Gl4 the amount of skills in this state would be lovely, sam loves skillspeed so ups amount of attacks, nin has ninjutsu but still very fast attacking job, mch before brd due to looking like its more powerful and drg bringing up rear due to their gcd times being the worst and if tether remains dnc may be far out rather than close(I believe i heard distance may affect potency if i misheard put drg before brd and scratch the part abou tether).

All that is based on SB and the trailer/LL and is also tailored to Substain dmg rather than the opener or burst which might make things more worthwhile on casters who knows XD

well then i hope they give dnc a magic dmg up buff for casters because damn dnc not liking casters atm

they have a dance that increase crit and direct hit rate but its unlikely for them to tether to a caster cause they dont use weapon skills. unless that changes before live cause as always everything is subject to change until the update goes live (which is why during the live letter the translater just hummed or averted the topic (prolly given a gag order on certain things))

Dancer looks like it will have high support and such so will it ever take the spot of Bard or Ninja or it is the case that you can take Dancer as an alternative? Also i am anxious to know what area it falls in for gear and such.
But even if dps is the lowest i plan on levelling it first because i have wanted dancer for a long time.
