I wasn't around for the HW benchmark, I'm assuming that when you could create au ra in it there wasn't an issue with missing hairstyles given no one has yet mentioned it (?)

I don't think the new races will not have the existing hairstyles imported to them. I think they didn't include in the benchmark was probably because it's not ready yet.
I have discussed with some of my JP friends and we come to this conclusion because some of mogstation items provides hairstyles as well so if players who have bought this previously but decide to change to the new races and suddenly not be available to them does not make much logical/business sense.

I am very concerned about this, since 9 hairstyles are very few, although there is a "good" personalization in viera faces, the hairstyle is what does most of the work in making us look different and most noticeable, so I hope have all the hairstyles that were already available in the other races.
And ... unfortunately hrothgar is another issue, they do not even have a point of their own to choose hairstyle, I like the customizable details they have, but they will all look very similar because they have only 8 hairstyles and attached to the faces![]()

I’m hoping that at the very least, we’ll be able to use Mog Station hairstyles.

There weren't, though you should also note the amount of shared hairstyles back when 3.0 first released was minuscule compared to what we have now. Just food for thought.
"You have a heart of gold. Don't let them take it from you!"

I feel like viera might have some hope of being opened up to more hairstyles, but hrothgar are kind of up the creek since they don’t even have a section in the creator for hairstyles; it’s just face and fur. Also when you go into the facial features tab there is one that toggles an extra piece of hair that is linked to whatever hairstyle your face has. How would they even allow more hairs? List them all under the face category with each face/hair combo as a separate entry?
I think they made the decision to tie hair to faces on these guys and that’s that, just like the aura face/horn situation. I’ll honestly be shocked if they end up giving even 1 or 2 more styles let alone the huge number all other races have.
As far as the aesthetician goes, I would imagine fur color will be alterable, and maybe they will let you swap between the hairstyles that are available for the face you have. So like you would essentially just be able to choose the one other option for your face that you aren’t currently using?

I think the current hairstyles clip with viera ears, that's why they weren't able to put them with the current global hairstyles.
They have said they are working to make helmets and stuff work with them though so I think hairstyles may go along with that and we will see them later.
The sad thing is that I have seen at least one Viera hairstyle that clips with their shoulder. So honestly that would be a bad argument in my view, especially since we have a certain "ball" hairstyle that looks really strange on the kittens because they would not change it for them. IMO let the people decide if they want to have to deal with that or not.I think the current hairstyles clip with viera ears, that's why they weren't able to put them with the current global hairstyles.

The math doesnt also add up if you simply look at this with "one person creates one character". If you want a character you can only choose one face. With female Viera you can use one face and with that 8 different hairstyles and one variation for this thanks to the ones with or without bangs. If you choose a face from Hrothgar you can choose two hairstyles for it and maybe some small variations to this later but in the end its still 8 vs. 2.This math doesn't add up nicely. Every viera face can have any viera hairstyle. This is not the case for hrothgar. Claiming that the math doesn't lie in this context is like telling two groups of people that they have an even amount of clothing, but in the case of one group they fit only half of them. So while both groups have the same amount of clothing, only one group can wear everything. The math only looks tidy when you don't bother to think about the end user experience.
They could have done both. I mean we get racial tattos, so maybe make the fur the tattoo option and the color of the fur would be the one you choose for your hair. This way all that want different fur can have it. At the same time have the hairstyles unlocked from the faces and those would be happy too. I at least have my character much more without a headgear (or the option on to turn them off) so hairstyles are important for me.
IMO making fur that important in customization for the Hrothgar just feels bad because that will also restrict the glamour option for this race even more since you cant see it with most gear. (And at the same time I question why it was even so important to give us headgear at launch if they have the same hair anyway all the time. But that of course is just my opinion)

You must enjoy worrying! Seems kind of a silly thing to be concerned with IMO.

You know what? I’ll be okay. I’m still gonna try the Hrothgar. I might like how my outfits will look on them. Not to mention. Think about all the gil I’ll be saving because I won’t be able to change my hairstyle.
