Hairstyle Concerns for The New Races

Eeeeeesh, Viera came out to be a Limited Limited race. This is very unseemly coming from Square-Enix...much less from Yoshida as a producer. Did they really just lose the ability to create races now? I get the thousands of armors argument but the hairstyles.........are.....not that hard to add for Viera. They have the same skull structure as the rest of the "human" races like Miqo'te and Roegadyn.

No male Viera I can begrudgingly understand, but missing 20+ hairstyles and now this weird statement that they might not add all of them to Viera? I can't help but laugh!
Yeah devs...you've lost me on this one, next time just add full Hrothgar if it mattered that much to you. My theory is Hrothgar took them so much time to design that the time spent on the "rest" of the Viera customization like hairstyles took a backseat in February/March.

Is it possible to get a Dev response about whether or not we will be able to change Hrothgar face, or at least linked face with the two hairstyles, by the aesthetician? I find the situation very disconcerting that the race would require a fantasia every time if so.

I'm still changing to my viera cause i'm pretty much happy with how she looks (though be nice if the facepaint wasn't so light idk her freckles even on dark setting don't seem to go to the right shade of brown for me. also more ear wiggle in emotes would of been nice) But I can understand the upset as i don't understand why viera can't have the hair styles when the miqotes can with there ears in the same place... it seems to not make sense to me at all on that one.

Yoshi-P: Developing and pushing out hrothgar more beastly was our first priority, with special specifications for it like face patterns and hairstyle to work together as one. I told the staff "It's okay not to implement some of the general hairstyles". which led to the current design. To implement new hairstyles we like to make it as "beastly" type in mind for roleplays. It was designed to be different from the existing races so we hope you may understand.

Yoshi-P: For the viera race there are many hairstyles, some that can be used and some that cannot be used. I intend to make it applicable for those that can be handled(maybe indicating that certain hairstyles may not work on viera) but having to be able to use/choose all of the hairstyles may not be possible.

Interesting instead of more hairstyles for Hrothgar, they might possibily get more face options then the other races with possibly two hair styles attached. (I'm assuming since that is how the other faces are with hairstyles). I edited again to include the whole thing translated on reddit.

Since Hrothgar have hairstyles tied to their character creation options rather than being separately selectable, you will not be able to apply unlockable hairstyles, but they might implement more face types after 5.0. As for Viera, there's some legacy haristyles they'll able to eventually implement, but not all of them. Some of unlockable hairstyles should be supported, others may not be.

This is such a bad decision. I'm shocked that this got the green light. It's going to be morbidly funny if hrothgar turn out to not be very popular due to this. I knew this was likely how it would be given the benchmark is like this, but we keep reading "subject to change" about everything so I had a little hope. I am intensely disappointed.

And it's weird because they're giving themselves more work to do now. Every time they create a new hairstyle, they will have to make something the hrothgar can use. If they leave players out this is going to result in huge backlash. Sadly I think the result of this will be SE creating far less hairstyles than usual.

I've been an advocate for female hrothgar but if they're going to get the same treatment for customisation, then no thanks. I don't want to have to change my face to change my hair. I don't want more faces instead of the freedom to choose the hair I want on any head I choose. I don't want put myself in a position to be restricted by a character creation system with head options that belong in an out of date game.

Not even viera are getting the treatment they deserve either. It's better than hrothgar but still not up to the standard of the other races. It would have been better to do just viera and do that properly instead of giving us this. Or just release both in a later patch when they're done. I'd rather wait longer for a great product than get something meh sooner.

I guess it completely depends on the person, although I assume most people want different hairstyles. I use the same hairstyle on every single race and haven't changed once, and I enjoy the current Hrothgar styles, so it isn't to much of a bother for me. Like most people I'm concerned that it'll cost money to change the face, something I'm hoping they'll give an exception to Hrothgar. I guess I'll have my fingers crossed!

The issue then becomes how often Hroths get new options. We get approx 2 hairstyles per patch (already down from 4-6 back in HW's cycle). I doubt they're going to create 2 new options for every hrothgar face per patch and if they mean to implement more heads then that will be updated even less often, since a new head will then need new hair, new tattoos, new features, etc ON TOP OF THE HAIR STILL BEING TIED TO A FACE YOU MAY/MAY NOT LIKE.

On the other hand, Viera only need earholes punched into hairstyles similar to Miqo'te, so while it may take a while to get through the list, I can't really think of many (maybe the shaved side ones + dreads would look funky with the ear fluff?) that flat out won't work.

This is going to be so lopsided.

I feared that this would happen. Limited races indeed. What will Viera and Hrothgar get when the other races get 2 hairstyles every patch? Do you realy think SE is going to add 16x faces+ hairstyle for the Hrothgar each patch? First no helmets and now this.. guess this race is DoA.

Limited races for real, what angers me the most is they're purposely holding female Viera back to be "in-line" with Hrothgar's limitations.
