Buying Shadowbringers question.

If you preorder the game I know all of the extra areas do not get unlocked until shadowbringers itself launches. Does this mean the level cap itself wouldn't go away either or will the level cap at least be gone once you have the game pre ordered.

Content over lvl 70 is in Shadowbringers. It doesn't get 'unlocked' ^_^

You get the Earrings, the minion, the early access and you get to wait for everything else


PS. Make sure you order for the same region as your base game on the same platform.

Its level 70 cap until 5.0 goes live with early access/official release on July 2. I PO and still capped at 70. if thats what you were asking.

If you preordered you should get "Early Access".
"Early Access" is the earliest moment when the changes coming with Shadowbringers will take action.

I should have clarified lol (this is why folks shouldn't do things while tired).

My friend was planning on pre ordering the game. As of right now they have the base game (well plus the free Heavensward that the game gave them) and I was trying to figure out if they were going to be capped at level fifty (well now sixty) until the early access of shadowbringers.

Yes they will be capped at 60 until the launch (or early access) of Shadowbringers. Shadowbringers includes all previous expansions but until it launches Stormblood is still the current expansion. If they want access to SB content, including the increased level cap prior to the launch of Shadowbringers then they will have to buy Stormblood separately.

Honestly I wouldn't bother buying Stormblood at this point. Surely there is enough to keep busy in ARR/HW. Lost exp isn't going to matter much since each expansion is designed to bring you to cap and they will probably increase the amount of exp that SB quests give when Shadowbringers launches.

If they don't have Stormblood, they will be capped at 60 until launch. Early Access is only for those who have Stormblood. If you don't have it, you will get it at launch along with Shadowbringers.
