I always try to play my character as chivalrous. It's even what enamoured me the most about Hrothgar emotes. Between the feral and the cute beast tropes, there's some serious "loyal and devoted" type of manners that other races don't have. It really fits their background as a society who strove to serve and protect.
I hope Lodestone updates my character portrait tho, I always look unwashed as a Helion here :|

Your avatar (?) should update eventually here, it can take time though.![]()

There are literally two whole threads of people saying Hrothgars have zero expression. Which, admittedly, it is hard to make them expressive face-wise. You either need to be too obvious or be really used to their microexpressions. But they definitely have a different posture altogether. The way they kneel feels more respectful and devoted than other people. Their /bow is clumsy as you'd expect from a stereotypical anime male bulky guy with a heart of gold. Their /dote and /blowkiss are honestly rather romantic, with them placing their arm almost like a bow while blowing the kiss. It's just >w< I love them.
I'm just really glad that at least someone acknowledges they do have some expressivity, and it sells.
I hope so. Because let's face it...
...this ain't it. This ain't glam. This looks like a serial killer's mugshot. I never like looking at it :|

Well, I did mean animations, from what I have seen, and their faces are kind of like a Teddy Bear's. Being hunched over is kind of unfortunate though. It's definitely good to like (love) the race you play. There are literally two whole threads of people saying Hrothgars have zero expression. Id hug, pet, and scratch behind the ears of Both of them~<3
...and thats the story of how I lost my Right hand :3
No regrets, cause kitty :3
I recently created an alt that uses face 2 (Radovan) and honestly it does feel that, at least compared to face 1 (Runar), they're somewhat less expressive. Face 2 is also by far the most popular face so I wonder if there's some semblance of truth there, or it's just a coincidence since I'm simply more used to face 1 /shrugThere are literally two whole threads of people saying Hrothgars have zero expression. I don't have much experience with Face 1, but I do know Runar at least has a lot more expression around his lips than we do. Ours change very faintly, almost microexpression-like. A smile is really hard to detect unless you go for /grin or something obvious. On the other hand however, Face 2, the eyes are at least a little more expressive than in the other faces, barring the Bajsaljen face which I think has a more determined/piercing stare.I recently created an alt that uses face 2 (Radovan) and honestly it does feel that, at least compared to face 1 (Runar), they're somewhat less expressive. Take this one, for example.
It looks like it's just a normal default face, but I'm using /simper. The corners of the lips are curled just a teeny bit. But because of the muzzle, unless you're really used to this face, you'll never notice it's there.
(also I'm amazed as to how I picked a really vibrant eye colour, expecting it to be noticeable, and STILL the Forums make my eyeballs disappear!! ...eh, at least I look fly as hell now, so...)
You did an amazing job with him ! I love the colour combination you have put together:3
Hrothgar looks way different (and much better) up close and with good lighting. I kinda understand how people can miss their inherent cuteness because you rarely see them at such an angle in normal gameplay unless you play the MSQ with one.
To me the smile is obvious but as you said, it might be because I'm simply used to how the default expression look.It looks like it's just a normal default face, but I'm using /simper.
