    Eureka lore questions.

Hey all. Towards the end of expansions, I get more time to delve into the lore, do sightseeing logs, etc., and this has caused me to revisit the story of Eureka. Unfortunately, what was there was pretty thin.

I have questions. You may not be able to answer them, that's okay.

    1) What are the Students of Baldesion? I know they've been mentioned before, and the Isle of Val was said to have vanished way back in 2.2. Even so, I feel like an explanation of who and what they are should have been in Eureka. If I missed it, my bad. If not, they left out the main context for the entire expedition.

    2) What happened to Galuf and the missing students? I'm aware they haven't explained it yet, so what are your guesses?

    3) Why is the Isle of Val overrun with such a high concentration of powerful notorious monsters?

    4) Why is it called the Baldesion Arsenal, and why is it filled with so many powerful and strange fiends?

    5) Is Eureka a primal or something different? What do we know about it?

    *paging Anonymoose* lol

    1. the Students of Baldesion -they're like an academy of sorts, doing research and all sorts of other experiments into the nature of the world and into aether etc. it's where Krile and Ejika come from. it was only referenced vaguely in the game - i think Urianger would send them info that we had collected regarding primals and such.

    2. Did you not read Galuf's memo inside the academy? Their intention was to subsume the whole Isle of Val including Eureka into the Lifestream so that the Ascians wouldn't be able to get their hands on it. That's why the island vanished. their intention was to stay there for eternity. eventually their substance would dissolve and fade away into the Lifestream. there was no coming back from this decision. unfortunately for them Eureka had other ideas.

    3. being ripped out of the lifestream and back into the real world basically upset the balance of aether dramatically, leading to the rise of adverse conditions on the island, and the appearance of the NMs.

    4. Before Galuf and the rest of them at the academy could carry out their plan to "sink" the Isle of Val, Eureka was busy making weapons to possess people (this is basically what could be said of the origin of Odin and the Dark Divinity). They sealed away these weapons in the Baldesion Arsenal lest anyone succumb to their power.

    5. Eureka is a primal - that much has been said. it's basically designed to carry out the wishes of whoever possesses it. how it came into existence that i'm not sure of. but Galuf's note and Krile/Ejika's explanation tells you how dangerous it is. The Asicans would use it like a genie. any "Wishes" Eureka would try to grant however, would use up massive amounts of aether, draining and destroying all land and life.

DrWho2010 already explain majority of things so i make the tldr and trivial info

    1) Student of Baldesion is a Sharlayan Organization which their main HQ is on the Isle of val. originally on the Eastern Sea of Old Sharlayan sea, but now its near Hingashi /?
    2) dead
    3) Unbalanced and high concentration of Aether makes the wildlife OP. and somehow they can rip off the portal gates to the void too.
    4) its called 'Arsenal' because it contains some (DANGEROUS) weapons + 'Baldesion' because its the name of the leader/Founder (Galuff) and the organization itself.
the enemies on the hallway is actually a Sharlayan guardian (Calcabrinas, Porrogos, and Biblios) so they're basically protecting the place from anykind of unknown threats.
    5) a Primal, will forge anykind of 'weapon'/'item' for their master, and will posses their master/wielder too (Odin's Zantetsuken). the weapon that was stored in Baldesion Arsenal are weapons that created by Eureka.

    "Whats the deal with Ascian?"
Galuff biggest concern are: Eureka can make anything . if Ascian able to control Eureka, we're doomed

    "who's/when they summoned Eureka?"
we dont know yet, but posibilites are Eureka is Summoned at the 3rd Era when Allagan still exist. since its hinted for Zantetsuken were Forged at Allagan era.
but it can longer than that....

"what is Ozma and why theres a lot version of it?"
a shiny marbles that can rip the spaces and make a Blackhole.
    - Proto-Ozma / Shades : Baldesion Arsenal last boss, this Ozma is created by Eureka. this is the 'Original' Ozma.
    - Ozma : Weeping city of Mhach 3rd boss, this Ozma created by Mages of Mhach, trying to replicate Eurekan Ozma.
    - Demi-Ozma : the mount, this ozma is created by the scholar of sharlayan. the friendliest Ozma that actually cant make a blackhole.

i havent play the game for awhile so maybe my information is semi-wrong, any correction is appreciated tho

Thanks, both of you. Interesting stuff.

Though the extreme number of NMs is still pretty weird, considering every person living there apparently died when the island was moved.

    np!

the NMs on Eureka are usually "WHO KILLS MY CHILD? IM GOING TO KILL YOU"-Scenario judged by the NMs Description
the void-related usually "HMHMHMH I SMELL BLOOD AND IM GOING TO KILL YOU" so its still similiar.

but the Ash Dragon and Louhi NM (on pagos) has 'Corpse' Adds. the Corpses on Louhi is Killable but the Corpse on the Dragon isnt.
they talk about something but for sure i feel bad about them.....

my Biggest question is: How can the Lamebrix from the Alexander raid got stuck on Pyros ??????

Patching in after an unanticipated delay to fact-check, but if most of the answers are,
"The mob team got to follow the Rule of Cool and we have no idea wtf is going on with Emmerololth or which story about Odin isn't DeLiBeRaTe MiSiNfOrMaTiOn, yet."
we're off to a great start!

#1] Think of the Students of Baldesion as an independent academic society. Galuf Baldesion and his friends (inspired by the Dawn Wariors) pulled the old Prince Noctis and went on a coming-of-age road trip across Hydaelyn, only the knowledge to which they were enlightened ended up being about primals. (Including something something Eureka.) With their niche and esoteric interests, they were in just the right position to become fast friends with the Scions of the Seventh Dawn, which is how Minfilia and Krile (who was adopted by Galuf) became close. Throughout 2.0 you can hear Minfilia making linkpearl calls to them a few times.

#2] See: Galuf's Memo, as suggested above. (Granted, I'd like to pick the writers' brains about that memo...)

#3] It's a one-two punch of an excuse for "Mob Team Rule of Cool" but it's a combination of the answers above: the Lifestream incident radically destabilized the local aether and thus changed the local fauna, and the instability of the aether made it easier for voidsent to cross the membrane, especially in the capacity of possessing and twisting dead fauna.

    #4] Answered well above.

#5] As far as we know so far, Eureka looks to be an Allagan-age primal. Maybe it was so late in the era they didn't have a "divine forgemaster" to pray to and focused on basically willing into existence an ADS node that grants wishes, lol. It will probably take more time to figure out if Eureka really is laying claim to Odin and Ozma, or if that's just more Rule of Cool that'll have to be explained away.
