Movement veering left or right using controllers on PC

This isn't my issue, but a friends we're trying to solve. The problem is that moving forward with a joystick on a controller constantly veers to the left or right. It isn't much but definitely enough to interfere with gameplay. This isn't an issue with one controller, as this has been tried using 2 different wired PS4 and Xbox One controllers each, and all 4 controllers replicated this issue. It's also not found in any other game played on that computer with any of the controllers. The OS is Windows 10 which might have something to do with it? I myself have no issues with a wired dualshock 4 on Windows 7. There's a couple other threads online about this problem (Thread 1 - Thread 2) but none of them have ever been resolved, hoping to change that.

Update: So after a couple more hours of investigating and talking to friends and strangers about this problem it seems that... it isn't. What seems most likely is that the PS4 has it's own dead zones for individual directions and any PC software for controllers does not. So the specificity of joystick movement is simply a lot tighter on PC than PS4, and moving from the latter to the former makes for a shocking transition (and probably why I didn't really notice it when I did tests, since I do not play on PS4). So probably not a FF14 problem!
