This is still how it works and it needs to be fixed this needs to be updated I should not have to target people, some people use 3rd party tools and know when you target themIt's working as intended. It's unfortunate that the intended behavior is wrong, though.
When they were preparing for the launch of the world visit system, they removed the ability to target players by name for all commands except /tell. Only /tell accepts typed names as targets now, and even when sending a tell to someone on your own server you still have to include @World. Other slash commands can only take target tags. If you cannot see or target the other character model, you must use menus. This in itself would not be absolutely horrible, except that even when you can see the person's name in a list like /search, the blist command is often not included in the menu.
The system needs improvements.
these devs enable stalking and you think they're even going to consider restoring functionality to the blacklist. lol. lmao even.
Littreally Blacklisting instead of making it so they can't see you instead they make it so you can't see them but they can come around and follow you around and you now have no idea.
It's esoteric and stupid. In order to blist someone, the person you're trying to blist has to be online. You also can't have them on your friend's list. But if you remove them from your friend's list, it DOES NOT automatically remove you from their friend's list. Meaning you'll show up whenever you go online, along with whatever color changes for friends.I'm unable to manually add players to blacklist.
Commands like /blist add "player name@server" results in "player name @server" is not a valid name.
I'm not even attempting to blacklist someone on another server.
Have attempted other permutations such as older variants /blist add "player name" and get the same error.
At the very least, when you search their name, you can right click and blist them there. But again, they have to be online in order for your to blist them.
The only other option is if you've done anything with them, aka in contacts for dungeons and etc.
Actually even if you do manage to blist them, if they have you on your friendlist they can still, see you, whatever colour they have set for friends is still applies, they can see which world/location you are on/in, and your stats. The only they can't see is your Adventure plate. It's esoteric and stupid. In order to blist someone, the person you're trying to blist has to be online. The implementation decision was still wrong, and not being able to type people's names to /blist them is still stupid.
However, you can work around having to target them by using a mouseover tag:
/blist add <mo>
with your cursor over their character model. Mouseover is a valid target for text commands, and you won't actually have to select the other character.
