    SE, Please, we need to talk about currency bloating our inventory.

    I know this topic has been covered before but with the release of Shadowbringer on the horizon, I feel it needs to be brought up again.

    I don't expect it to be resolved by the time ShB comes out, but hopefully it can be done mid expansion.

    It's a very simple concept:

    TL : DR THE AMOUNT OF CURRENCY BLOAT CURRENTLY IS RIDICULOUS

    84+ CURRENCIES THAT TAKE UP INVENTORY SPACE HAVE BEEN IMPLEMENTED IN STORMBLOOD ALONE

    A bit hyperbolic you say? Not when you think about it.

    8 new currencies added for every single raid tier normal mode alone. Plus 4 or 5 for savage.

    39 currencies from those two modes alone.

    8 different trial tokens in SB alone, more for the previous versions.

    3 currencies for completing the 24 mans (the coins)

    PoTD and HoH added their poshterds and silver and gold sacks each.

    3 different logs for Daily Hunts.

    Eureka is the current WORST offender:

    5 different types of crystal currency

    2 different types of Light currency

    4 boss drop currencies

    BA fragments

    4 normal lockboxes and 3 variations of those (Cold Warped, Heat Warped, Moisture Warped).

    9 different types of logograms. . .

    Materia should be considered a currency as well as much as we use them.

    It's gotten to the point where I have a retainer for nothing but currencies only. That's ridiculous.

    In Stormblood alone, there are 84 currencies. 84 inventory slots taken up for no reason when there's a currency tab. More if I missed some somewhere.

    Something drastically needs to be done for the Quality of Life of this system.

    Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
    Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
    Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]

    I 100% agree.

    but if you're seriously holding onto everything you listed, you have a hoarding problem. Some of that stuff is not worth holding onto past the latest version (hunt logs), easily re-obtained (normal mode tokens), or one-time-use items not meant to be "currency" (lockboxes).

    I agree with trying to clean house every expansion, that's why I primarily focused solely on SB. If you go back two expansions it gets even worse.

    if they moved it to the currency window tho then people would complain about the bloat in the currency window and how it would look ugly etc. most of those tokens/currency are optional too - if you don't do the content you don't need to be carting it around and once you outlevel certain content you'll never need to revisit that stuff.

    ... this is silly. No one cares how the currency tab looks. I guarantee most people don't even open the thing for longer than a split second.

    I am afraid you are wrong about that...
    In Lord of the Rings Online you have the wallet which is basically the same as our currency tab, and nowadays there are LOTS of different tokens that can go into that wallet.
    Some people do complain about how bloated it is, and ask for ways to delete tokens from the wallet - despite it not taking up any inventory space.

    If there is something people can complain about, then some people will complain about it. Guaranteed.

    Which is never a reason not to do something. One of those things reduces the number of items you can carry, one doesn't. The superior choice is obvious.

    Please explain to me how currency tab bloating is worse than actual currency bloating.

    I seriously doubt there would be many voices saying this. People don't have the currency window constantly open and designing the ui properly would eliminate that issue. The inventory space issue is far worse as it directly affects your experience in the game.
