Repeated connection problems - Previous thread closed despite continued issues

    Good morning all,

I had a previous ongoing thread as I have had continual connection issues over time. However it was shut, despite my issue still not being resolved.

    http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...ms#post4940495

Thread can be viewed above for any previous information.

I am up to the step in the above thread where solutions are provided for internet explorer, my current and the most modern version of windows does not have internet explorer and has Edge, there seems to be no options to do as per the instructions in the above thread.

Has anyone written an update for this fix for 2019?

    These were the instructions

"1) The game will use the Internet Explorer web browser to connect to the internet. Open Internet Explorer, then open the "Tools" setting, go to "Internet Options" and adjust the following settings:
    - Under the "General" tab, please delete ALL browser history.
    - Under the "Security" tab, please move the slider to the lowest possible settings or no higher than "Medium"
    - Under the "Privacy" tab, click “Advanced” and select ‘Accept’ under both First Party and Third Party Cookies.
    - Under the "Advanced" tab, please make sure that "Allow software to run or install even if signature is invalid" is CHECKED.
    - Make sure that all SSL and TLS (EXCEPT SSL 3.0) are CHECKED. [SSL 3.0 should be UNCHECKED]
    - Hit "Apply" to save the settings, and then "OK, to close the Internet Options menu."

EDIT : adding to the above, i believe I have posed the question before but without a response- routing has been mentioned, however for two weeks or forty days there will be no issue, all of a sudden I will get continual 90001 errors and the above, I will even make it into the server then get kicked after a short period of time with one of these errors.

The question remains- if it was a routing error at my end, would this not be a continual error and not one intermittently happening every two weeks or forty days? Just curious.

Edit (2): A new error has appeared. A system error has occurred : - 2146697205 - HTTPS System error. When attempting to load the login. Upon accepting this, and loading this login again, all appears as usual.

When they migrated my datacenter to the new system, I found my account randomly disconnecting and frequently getting security errors.

When I started looking into login history I noticed ipv6 address randomly popping up.

After disabling IPV6 on my isp-provided gateway/modem, my connection stabilized.

I can only assume the connection was "flapping" between ip4 and ip6 address.

    Maybe worth a look?

thank you plasmacutter. I haven't bothered attempting the above since I did this post cause well, lifes too short to pay for a games monthly subscription, not be able to play it and also be frustrated from the experience so I thought I'd eliminate the one I had some control over (being the latter).

Also bumping post as per the request from the previous thread for internet explorer instructions changed to edge, I've tried to follow them but just don't seem to end up at the right areas for each option, etc.

Good afternoon and thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

Regardless of whether Microsoft Edge is installed on the PC, you should still have Internet Explorer. Search for the program, open it and follow the suggestions listed.

If you have tried all of the suggestions listed in the previous thread, you may be looking at a routing or congestion issue. This can happen anywhere along your route to the server and may not affect other services that take a different route to their respective servers.

We hope we can be of assistance in helping you enjoy the exciting world of Final Fantasy XIV!

Try ping plotter [google it] to determine if its an issue with your router, your ISP or SE.

Go into adapter settings and check the status of your connection after the DC. If its duration is short, it could mean your connection is disconnecting and then quickly reconnecting.

Try moving your ethernet cord into another port on the router. If its Wireless, try reinstalling/updating your drivers. Try reinstalling/updating LAN drivers if it fails from switching ethernet ports. If that fails on LAN, use a different ethernet cord.

If none of this seems to have an effect, download a FREE VPN to run the game on. If you are STILL having issues with your connection, its a local/router issue.
