Peak time gameplay causing instability in Ul'dah [Selbina/Ridill]

I've been trying to track down this problem for a few days down, and my best guess is that this is server load related. I went through the whole ordeal of swapping drivers and reinstall. I'm pretty convinced the error doesn't lie with me. My event log cites ffxigame.exe as the culprit. During peak times it appears that Ul'dah is "at capacity", and as a result I'm unable to go there, or login if I had logged there previously. If I wait until an off-peak time I see that I'm able to run into Ul'dah no problems.

I was wondering with the increase of people returning soon is there any effort to do some more load balancing of some kind to help with the influx of traffic through Ul'dah.

    Leelya,

You may be able to fix the problem using the following methods.

    ■ Power cycle your internet hardware
Sometimes, resetting the bad data stored in the connectivity device will allow you to connect normally. Turn off the power on the modem, router, hub, etc., wait several minutes, turn the power on again, and check whether or not the problem is fixed.

    ■ Update firmware for your internet hardware
Some hardware may require firmware updates in order to function properly. Please make sure that your firmware is up to date for all your telecommunication equipment.

    * To determine how to update your firmware, please consult the hardware makers. In some cases, performing an update even when you already have the latest version may improve performance.

    ■ Connect your PC directly to the modem
In order to isolate the possible causes of your issue, try connecting your cable modem directly to your PC, without use of a router or hub, and see if the issue persists.

    * The connection type may be changed to broadband. Please ask your provider about which settings to use.

    ■ Disable or change firewall settings
At your own discretion, you may decide to uninstall or disable any uneccesary background programs. At this time, if you are using security software or firewall software, you can try (at your own risk) adjusting the settings so that “ffxivboot.exe” is allowed to bypass the software, deactivating the software, or uninstalling it.

    * How to shut down background programs
Click on the Windows Start Button. In the text box that comes up, type in "msconfig" and then click the "OK" button. The "System Configuration Utility" dialogue box should then be displayed. Click the General tab, and then click "Selective Startup." Uncheck the "Load startup items" checkbox, and then restart your computer. Once your computer has finished restarting, please try logging into FINAL FANTASY XIV again. After conducting this test, please be sure to return your "Load startup items" setting to its original configuration.
    - If you are using Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2, you will need to go to Windows Firewall and create an exception for Final Fantasy XIV.

    ・Confirm Internet Connection
Please confirm that no maintenance is being performed and no connectivity problems are being experienced by your internet service provider.

    ・Confirm Internet Security
Please confirm with your internet service provider that no network security services are being performed by them. Depending on the type of security service being provided, your communication ports may be blocked and regular internet access may be hindered.
