Try Black Desert Online, absolutely no story, just kill stuff lol. You will never get bored in that game. The only bad thing about that game is since you never get bored in that game, you also never stop playing it. Not to mention say goodbye to thousands of dollars going into their cashshop xD.

I've played them all too, maybe you were skipping the cut scenes? To me this was the best Final Fantasy story I've played since IX, and I greatly enjoyed it from the moment I started playing.

Also can we quit lying about saying how this is a bad experience for ALL new players? I was a new player just a few years ago and I freaking loved the experience from the start, I have new players that join my FC that say they've loved and are enjoying the story from the start, I've had friends that have made SEVERAL alts because they like experiencing the story over and over. It is a bad experience for some people, not the kind of people this game was designed for stop demanding the game be changes to cater to you and your friends needs its highly inconsiderate of the people who are actually enjoying the game as intended, people who don't enjoy it can go play what makes them happy, then everyone is happy. do you want everyone to be happy? I do.

WTF. from 2 weeks of playing i watched at least 1,5 weeks cutscenes without doing anything than watching. i quit this collection of cutscenes yesterday. i don't want to watch cutscenes for weeks just to be able to play the game i paid for! i love good lore and dont have a problem with some cutscenes, but this is absoluteley ridiculous.
well, its an rpg. unless you are new to the genre you should have known what you are getting into. Thats like playing a FPS and crying that there is no story and nothing but guns. Or playing a sports title and mad that you can't go on an adventure. Yes playing with friends can be fun if you like RPGs. If you do not, find something else to play with them. One thing that erks me is when people force themselves to play with friends because they are afraid of playing alone. Watching cutscenes = playing the game. It is part of the rpg experience. That's like saying i didn't pay for a racing game just to drive a car.

Sorry friend, you did not management your expectations accordingly.

I skip the story myself, and I would say that if you can get past the obscene amount of MSQ items, you may find things you enjoy on the other side. Perhaps just take a break from the slog and come back to it to see if you feel any different. Just prepare yourself for a lot more of the same, at least until you're caught up on the MSQ.
the failed logic with this is that you are denying the truth blaming everyone being a fangirl. Its an rpg with story as its number one selling point. thats like buying a book you dont wanna read. Why put yourself through it and then blame the fans and the company you didnt enjoy your time? That is considered entitlement. There are options for those wanting to skip story such as "skip cutscene" or jump potions.

in my opinion sitting in front of my computer for weeks doing nothing than watching cutscenes is way more mindless than wow. but yeah, i expected this kind of response anyway.....
then my friend, you are in the wrong genre and in the wrong game. Thats like changing the rules of football because you find it boring. If you want mindless grinding and pointless dungeons with fetch quests, play wow or the countless other wow clones. No one is attacking you, you just kinda started to play the victim and brought this upon yourself.

Here's hoping you find your game

This. It might be some people but not everybody.
When I first played this game I loved the story, it wasn't another.

Oh people are talking with bad translation, hit skip, auto path to the next pointless story that doesn't even try, then telling me to kill 40 beetleswolfs for no reason. ((I only played Anime MMO's before this ok))

A normal rpg is only like 15-40% this, with exploration, dungeons, and bosses being where you spend most your playtime.

50-60% Of msq was literally designed to be done for a few hours vs 40-hundreds of hours of dungeons/exploration/bosses. Its not a well designed for the way a new player experiences it.
There is exploring and battling both via the MSQ and outside of MSQ. You can literally explore and battle alongside doing MSQ or focus on MSQ, going from point A to point B while exploring and battling, then do the rest of the exploring and battling afterward.

This has always been one of the bigger issues with FFXIV for me. It's not that there's cutscenes, it's that the frequency of them combined with the ludicrous amount of pointless back and forth (particularly in ARR and in some parts, Heavensward) ends up extremely exhausting. It's a big part of why I've been hoping for a rework of older MSQ segments to make them less tedious for new and returning players.

You can tell a narrative in a video game without constantly yanking control from the player.

Indeed, I remember doing lots of exploring as a new player, was lots of fun!

That's right kids, dogpile on the new player saying -- once again -- that the story fedexing is boring enough to drive them away.

The story is not the fedexing. The fedexing is garbage, the story can be told more elegantly.
