why i quit before reaching endgame (feedback from a new player)

hello

i tested this game for 2 weeks now, reached level 60 and quit the game during the dragonsong quests. most annoying game of all time. this is my experience:

go to npc -----> cutscene -----> accept quest -----> cutscene -----> make quest -----> go to npc -----> cutscene ------> accept new quest -----> cutscene -----> go to next npc -----> cutscene
-----> do quest -----> cutscene -----> go to npc -----> cutscene -----> accept dungeon-quest -----> cutscene -----> enter dungeon -----> cutscene -----> arrive first boss -------> cutscene
-----> arive next boss -----> cutscene -----> arrive last boss -----> cutscene -----> defeat last bos -----> cutscene ------> go out of dungeon ------> cutscene-...................


WTF. from 2 weeks of playing i watched at least 1,5 weeks cutscenes without doing anything than watching. i quit this collection of cutscenes yesterday. i don't want to watch cutscenes for weeks just to be able to play the game i paid for! i love good lore and dont have a problem with some cutscenes, but this is absoluteley ridiculous.

You can skip cuts by pressing escape on PC or O on ps4

Funny, 14's description on its own website doesnt say "You have to do a long, grindy, bloated storyline or pay $30 in order to raid or do content with your friends".

It even tells me I can play my own way and emphasizes the things you expect to be able to do in an MMO, like raid and do dungeons and stuff with friends. Of course it also emphasizes housing, something you arent going to be doing as a new player, so we can see how much we should trust that...

Just because you can't understand the concept of a story in an RPG doesn't mean it is a bad thing.

alas, he cannot do them, because while he's high enough level to do them, he has 16 levels of the msq to do still.

Maybe if I wish really hard, him being the correct level and having 380 gear would be enough to do normal raids. I doubt it, but hey, you never know, me being his friend might magically make it happen.

If the only content your friend wants to do is for 380 ilvl+ then this game isn't for them. FFXIV isn't only about being max lvl. It never has been.

There is plenty of good content long before then and with lvl sync you can do a lot of it with him already. You obviously would know this but you complain as if this option doesn't exist. So I'm suspecting that you are the one refusing to do lower lvl content, which then leaves your friend keenly feeling the gap between your lvl and his.

op sounds like the type of player who should be in dota or lol, since that game is designed for that. level fast, no quest, no silly story, just kill stuff, reach max level, equip best gear, duke it out until ou either win/lost, repeat.

the only thing that bugs me is when im doing quest the gil amount for reward is not worth it, sometimes the zones do not connect they send you back to a place 999 gil to teleport by the time you come back you spent 2k gil get rewarded 1800 gil lol the experience is pretty much not worth it either or piece of gear is out dated and if I go to put in in Auction house its like undercutted to no ends so I just sell it at npc to make up the difference of teleports.

i have all 4 main cities in eorzea as favorites and an apt in shirogane. i never pay 999 to go any where. Return is set to the reach. ...might have to go through a zone or two.

PS: uldah is always free by air by way of the gold saucer.
