The language setting is a good advise, thanks for that. I normally use English, but Japanese seems a better bet.

You don't need to switch your game to be in Japanese. It's just a set of tickboxes, supposedly "which languages you are able to understand" and are willing to be paired with - but in practice, everyone has to tick Japanese because otherwise you'll struggle to find a party.
