Almost everyone has been in the situation of entering a duty blind and not knowing what to expect, no one is perfect and it takes a few seconds to write a couple of things in terms of mechs. If the player learns and actually uses that knowledge then great, if they don't then yeah that can be a problem but no amount of watching a video is going to change how someone plays. Best advice if you do not like the matchmaking, queue up premade with friends or even use the Party Finder.

With DF groups, I am fine with others going in blind and I think its a rather ridiculous notion that people should have to watch a video first before going into content. If you can't hang with that, make your own private groups via PF and make the guide watching a requirement.

I don't think there's a solution to this. In PUGs I consider myself lucky if any of the DPS know how to pull what could remotely be considered respectable damage (ie have even half a clue how to execute a rotation) let alone put forth any effort to prepare themselves for a dungeon.

Instead what we get are people ignoring mechanics, performing their jobs poorly, and blaming healers when things go wrong. Other than running exclusively with friends, there is nothing we can do to stop this selfish and ignorant behavior.

I gotta say though OP, if you are refusing to explain mechanics I don't think that's really helping anyone. If there is a solution, I just don't think that's part of it.

Fair enough. In my experience though vids or guides only go so far in teaching people. Most people learn more and better by doing...but knowing how some things work beforehand helps when practicing or trying to clear, which is where guides and such come in handy. But people can read and/or watch all they want about certain mechanics...performing those mechanics correctly, however, comes by doing them, not watching or reading about them.

While I cannot give a specific date on when personal housing will be implemented, I can say that prices will be completely separate from free company housing, and, naturally, far more affordable.

It sounds like you'd be better off only using the PF and just set it to only allow players who have already completed the duty. I haven't watched or read a single dungeon or trial guide since Stormblood went into early access. Have I caused a couple wipes along the way? Absolutely. Not everyone is going to be perfect right from the start.

Expecting everyone to look up and watch a video before every new fight is just not realistic. In most cases, you could type a quick explanation in less than a minute instead of basically saying "go watch this 7 minute video while we wait." What tends to happen when I try to type in a quick explanation is whatever tank is there that's in a hurry just pulls as soon as the barrier drops, then we wipe halfway through the fight and have to start over. That tank usually ends up complaining about people "wasting their time" because of it, or they just ragequit and take the penalty after one wipe. In the end, its faster to just wait that 30 seconds and let them know what the important mechs are. If they say they want it blind, then I'm all for it. After all, I've went into everything blind for the past 2 years myself. Am I going to continue going in blind when Shadowbringers comes out? Definitely. Its more fun that way.

theres no problem in going blind, specially when the content is new, what is the biggest problem to me is when i tell people to watch a guide and they take it into a ridiculously level of rudeness, im not being rude when i tell people to watch a guide, it is the logical thing to do when you dont want to learn by yourself and if you are just gonna come in and ask for help, why not waste a bit of time to watch a video? i dont get the logic, it is not something degrading that will put someones feeling to the dirt for doing so, i do understand that my motives are petty and i could just ignore and let someone talk to 30 secs- to 2 minutes to explain someone mechanics, i just find it absurd that its the most disrespectful thing to tell someone to watch a guide in this game

i just got today a group in alliance raid that even tho someone was talking through every mechanic in the raid they would just not listen, its annoying, but nothing i can do, what im talking about tho is mechanics so simple its about 4 man dungeons, they are extremely basic, and a video will more than enough for someone to simply not die, and even if they dont do the mechanics in a 4 man dungeon it will probably not kill them, this is not what im talking about, its the disrespect to others when it comes to asking someone who is not a mentor to explain to them mechanics, we have the mentor channel for that, which is exactly what people are telling me to do, go out of my way to form a pre made party of people that already know what to do to just complete daily roulettes

yeah thats mostly my experience in this game, and my mind is going over to agree with you, its too much work to fight this not acceptable behavior and just either help them, or ignore them and let someone else explain

"Watch/Read a guide" is absolutely the correct answer if the duty is Extreme/Savage.

If it's not Extreme/Savage, however, something more like "It's not extreme/savage; you'll pick it up it as we go" would be better than effectively announcing you don't feel like explaining mechanics and being openly annoyed at them for not coming prepared.
