The MNK one isn't great but I think it's supposed to be three slashes from a clawed fist weapon or something like that.

Dancers use THROWING WEAPONS, not specifically chakram. Their weapons can be any number of shapes, which is what the dev team wanted.

Every job's icon represents it or its weapon in some way... except, wtf is Samurai?

I think GUNs icon makes more sense than DNCs really, as a gun barrel cleaved in half, but DNCs like SAM is just some stylized icon that doesn't really mean much.

I thought SAM was showhing the Katana from above, vertically. The round is the hilt and the slim thing is the blade... At least that's how I see it haha.

SAM icon look very like a katana when you viewing it at aerial view point. Look very much like shape of the blade and the guard

SAM's icon is a tsuba.

I.e. The disc guard you see on katana's.
