New Housing district in 5.0?

Hi guys, just curious if we have any info on the new housing district in the next expansion? My friend told me it's going to be in Ishgard but we have to go through DoL/DoH content first, does it means the new district will not be out until maybe 5.1 or later?

I don't believe the Ishgard thing as been confirmed. The only thing we know is that we're rebuilding Ishgard, so everyone assumed it's going to be housing.

I believe we will have a new district, as there was one with Stormblood, or at least new wards added. I hope so.

That being said, we wouldn't have a new district right when the expac comes out thought, so if there is one, it'll probably be in a later patch

This. It was hinted at but we have no new housing district information. Unless they release something with the live letter then a new district would likely be 2-3 patches into shadowbringers at best. We'll be rebuilding Ishgard as part of a storyline/content for crafters and gatherers. My guess is it will be something similar to the doman enclave storyline, but at some point when they are satisfied with the story progress, housing will be unveiled for preview (similar to Shirogane) and then a patch after that they'll open the flood gates and the blood bath for housing will begin.

The most we can hope for is, at least lore wise, the 'rebuilding of Ishgard' results in more housing in a later patch for Ishgard, and then more wards everywhere as a result. It's been shown the possibility is there, and each ward, when filled, is $720 (roughly) per month for them, which should be more than enough to cover whatever additional server costs is needed, and then some.

It would not solve the core problem, but it would at least help.

yeah, consider NA has more player than other DC I hope at least they can add more wards in 5.0

the interview i linked shows more concern for "desolate areas" on low population servers, than it does for providing housing for current paying customers. their logic is flawed. I guess if they add wards to one server, they have to add them to EVERY SERVER. it's poor and lazy design.

We've known for a long time (probably around, maybe not quite 2 years now) that if they add wards to one server they have to add them to every server. And they can't add wards to just one specific housing district, they have to add them to every housing district. It's definitely a poor design, but it's what we have currently.

Reading the article you linked, I don't think Yoshida is actually aware of the severity of the housing situation on the NA servers, since he assumes that it's only a problem for the super large servers like Balmung and he thinks there are still plenty of houses across the data centers as a whole. That does not seem to be the case on any of the NA data centers anymore. It's kind of sad to realize that. Though what he said does hold true for the EU & JP data centers. (This goes back to my thought that NA needs more servers to spread our population across.) EU should be in an even better spot after the new servers are added.
