    Am I missing something?

    turbo pads = standard synths
Bots = hasty hands synths, 1/2 the time
    3333 lightning shards +600 tiger cod = 10000 shards.
80 hasty hands an hour 7.5 hours later = 1-2 mil in gil

i think they are referring to the interruption not allowing fast shard creation, hence a jump in price

blah... speaking of crafting, I just threw away 400 seals by letting my engineer manual tick down while I flapped my gums here instead of synthing. Maybe I should of used a turbo controller. LOL

so this change doses absolutely nothing to botters

bot always adapt. you can never get rid of them
any measures meant o punish bots dosent it just hurts the player

This type has to be remapped every patch, no matter how small.
The second is a scrypt that will follow the same thing over and over in a loop. The writer sets up "if this, then do that, if not then do this" type of script. Using pixels on the active window to tell if the person is picking the ingredient or crafting, where it will only do the last action on the list where there is one.
This one only has to change when the game color or pixels change.

The last is also a script, but without any pixel finding, where it just hits enter over and over in that loop.
This one would stop working if the enter loop was not always in that order. Like before with the default being on requested...
SE made the change, SE fawked it up for noob scripters and turbos to take a quick easy lvl or 2
yepo, i think i get it.

This is all SE's fault and started with Final Fantasy 1. You think I want to sit there and buy 99 potions? Hell no, I got a NES Advantage and put it on turbo, and then took a C Clamp and held that button down. Go eat some lunch and BAM 99 potions baby!

But as long as it's more than 20-30 synths as others have said it'll be OK. This won't affect leves either because the recipe will be different for each one. Now if you're sitting there turbo'ing 100 grind synths of the same thing then yes, this will affect you. But after the recipe changes it's actually more beneficial to me to do leves vs. grind synths. You have to make more items now since the yields are lower (ex linen yarn yield is 3 yarn per 6 flax now), and leves are free mats + shards/crystals. This won't hurt anyone who's legitimately crafting.

I'm really not surprised with the responses in this thread lol. This isn't a measure against real bots. It's to deter people from afk crafting with turbo controllers or simple enter spam scripts.

Here's an old post of mine that suspected what would happen once they changed synthesis to our current system.

When they implemented this for local leves they also lowered SP gain per synth. The reason why is obvious, they don't want us to level any faster than we already are. So a 10% cut in time needed per synth will more than likely equate to a 10% loss in SP per synth. You're still making the same amount of SP/hour, but you're using more mats in exchange for a more streamlined system. Personally, I'd prefer to get as much SP as possible per synth as opposed to being able to just spam enter and ONLY enter to burn through all of my mats.

This brings me to my next point. Another way to make it slightly more streamlined, yet still reward the same SP per synth is for them to make "Recipes" instead of "Requested Items" the default selection after each synth. This way you can still just spam enter, never having to look at your screen, and get the same SP per synth as we currently do.

Both of these options introduce a problem which you may have overlooked though. If we're allowed to simply keep spamming enter and ONLY enter then eventually everybody will just buy a cheap turbo controller and tape the confirm button down while they're away/sleeping. (Yea I know, it's no secret that plenty of people are already botting crafts anyways.) But, technically this does not violate the TOS because you wouldn't be using any 3rd party tools. So "everyone" would be cheating even tho according to the TOS they aren't and won't get punished for it.

I guess they can streamline it and default the yes/no to no though, but then we'll still lose SP per synth. Be careful what you ask for, you might just get it. Although, yes, your suggestion is a good one and I would be happy if the system wasn't as clunky as it is now. But on the other hand I don't think I would want farm/buy 10% more materials because of it.
Half of that, the part about turbo controller crafting, turned out to be true. Now SE is trying to fix the damage it caused by making this change.

    So, would you guys rather..

    A. Return to having "Requested Items" as the default option when crafting, like we used to have?

    or

    B. Keep the current system, which is a bit more streamlined, with the tradeoff of having "cheat check point" at some point during the process?

/Circles C. None of the above. Change crafting.

Personally? I had no problem with the old system and if the new system it is going to cause SE to intrude upon our playtime with captchas and other invasive/annoying measures then to hell with streamlining crafting. So I would say A.

But, realistically, B is here to stay so..... like I said before, as long as it is not too frequent, I'll live. In the end, it isn't going to hurt me as I'm one of the few weirdos who actually enjoys crafting for hours upon hours.

But on the grand scope, will this make any kind of impact where impact is intended? That remains to be seen.

If they start doing stuff like that, I don't see anyone leveling up a craft.

To be honest the best/simplest method would be to create a new and engaging mini-game that actually requires user attention, rather than a menu based selection that is almost completely static.

(Puts on flame retardant gear) Why not have like in WOW or RIFT... Craft All. Make the challenge in the crafting more about finding the recipes and the mats. Sure you got to the highest craft level in a couple of weeks but you cant make anything good yet since you dont have the mats or recipes? As it is the biggest challenge in crafting in FFXIV is staying awake. Thank God for Netflix....

Id much rather take a rare hide or ore that my linkshell farmed and turn it into something amazing instead of making 300+ cobalt cuirasses. FFXIV was going in the right direction for a little bit as far as crafting was concerned. The world NMs dropped rare materials for rare gear and it kinda made sense. Without the crafters, Dodore Wing is uselsss and without the DOW/DOM the crafters cant get the wings.

Then Darkhold comes out and screws it up hardcore...

Would have preferred to see mobs dropping materials to make some of the darkhold gear.

How cool would it have been to have Ifrit drop his horns that we can craft into any weapon we need/want?

    BTW Luminary tools =

Obtaining Luminary tools require no skill whatsoever...just perseverance. Could have made an EPIC quest which requires you to make an obscenely rare item or made from a Luminary Ore obtained at a 1% mining drop from a node, GOD anything besides grinding out another billion freaking walnut masks....

I tell ya people SE making awesome strides in the combat classes and gathering classes are fine since that makes sense. Crafting out 3000 41-50 synths using a crafting mini game which only requires you to hit enter in 2 seconds interval to succeed in? Its almost like they want people to bot... Sure botting is wrong blah blah blah everyone knows that but SE designed a crafting system that specifically caters to botters lol. I dont care how much you love crafting and enjoy that aspect of this game, crafting 3000 walnut masks isnt fun no matter how you slice it...

    My 2 cents
