Good afternoon and thank you for posting in the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.
Are you getting the error 2002 when connecting to the game? Or does it occur when you are already logged into the server? How long have you been having this issue?
Hope to see you online!
The problem started may 16th and has never happened before. I am getting Error 2002 after clicking the start button and waiting for it to connect, after longer then usual it just goes black and says "the lobby server connection has encounter an error" it then closes the game completely. I have tried different computers and calling my isp, reinstalling, and resetting my ip and about everything else i know how to do. I was even going to go as far as to switch isp company's but seeing other people have this issue makes me think square has something to do with this perhaps? The only way i have been able to get on is using my phone as the connection for the internet using LTE, but i only have so much data and shouldn't have to go through the hoops of connecting my phone every time i want to play ff.
edit: I have also tried the internet explorer tip you had put in the other thread. It did not work.

Thank you for the reply jaaaasssoonnn.
If you are getting the problem on multiple devices, but don't receive the error when using your mobile data, it sounds like the issue lies with your internet connection. I understand that you already contacted them, but if the issue stems from the route you take to the server, you will need to contact your Internet Service Provider. I do have a few suggestions you may want to try to strengthen your home network, but I can't guarantee they will work if the issue occurs beyond your router:
1) Use a wired connection as opposed to wireless.
2) Make sure your anti-virus/firewall has the appropriate exceptions for Final Fantasy XIV.
3) Try a clean boot. Simply open the task manager and select the 'Start up' tab. Disable everything here and restart the PC. This will make sure that no background processes are interfering with the game.
4) Check the following Port Ranges on your router/modem to ensure that they have been opened:
▼TCP
54992 through 54994,
55006 through 55007,
55021 through 55040
Your ISP can open these ports for you.
We hope we can be of assistance in helping you enjoy the exciting world of Final Fantasy XIV!
