From what I've looked up WTFast is a GPN and not VPN so it doesn't change your IP or address settings. I used a free VPN my friend recommended to me to test to see if it does work. I opted not to use the free one and instead pay for another one just for one month hoping this problems clears in the 1 month. If not then I guess I'll subscribe for a year and use the VPN for other services as well.
Yeah, the problem is with whatever server Eastlink is routing the game's NA IPs through in Vancouver. Contact them and try to get them to either reroute the game's IPs or contact whoever owns the server to resolve the issue. Until then, we're stuck using a VPN.
I am having the exact same issue and it started 4 days ago.
I have tried every solution listed in all the forums for 2002 errors and nothing works. I can log into EU/Japan servers fine
If you are willing to let me play this game for free, i can divert those funds into WTFast and play your game fine.(Actually with more lag.....)
Please find a solution to this. After all we pay a monthly fee............
i have checked with my ISP and all ports are open and nothing has changed on their end. Square Enix released a patch and since then
i cannot login to NA servers. It seems weird that i could play fine right up until that patch....
Indeed.
open cmd if you have windows, type
"ping xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx"
fill x's with the numbers
NA Data Center 184.107.107.176
JP Data Center 202.67.53.202
EU Data Center 209.130.141.243
example. ping 184.107.107.176
I can connect to JP and EU, but not NA. Since i can connect too 2/3 data centers it means there is something blocking us in-between the connection too NA.
If we cant ping NA, its not them unable too send the signal too us, its something in the middle like ISP blocking. At least this is my theory!
edit : Also too mention when some people with 2002 problem use VPN's they can access NA server after, which is showing the path of the signal with eastlink is causing the problem if a program using a VPN fixes it.
Something people need to understand is that simply calling them and asking the routing to be changed is not a simple request (especially on a long weekend in Canada). Ping results indicate the routing happens outside their network so there isn't anything they can directly affect as finding a new server backbone to use is no easy task. They would need to reach out to that server backbone host to determine what the problem is.

Look! Fresh meat.
Correct. But as a service if they will not do tasks like this then a % of their customer base will change too an ISP that will. Competitive marketing, which any business has. But if not enough people mention its a problem then why would they do anything at all.
It might not be "simple" as in one person can just fix it. But what each individual does is minor, it isnt "hard" too make phone calls, do some paperwork and type at a keyboard, and talk too a higher up. Which as far as i know would be the only actions any persons would take too fix the ISP connection problem, as i feel sure that would be a constant in such a hugely connected system.
I called Eastlink and got a new router. Problem solved, I can login without WTFast.
