Regarding Mentors in Mentor roulette, ''going offline'' than requeuing again

    Hello all!

I'm a new mentor, therefore I adore helping others even with more difficult, more outdated content, which I guess includes ARR extremes, which is in the mentor roulette.

During my multiple runs (was very bored and in the mood of helping others), I've seen the same mentor figure over and over again, didn't think much of it. However, I ended up in Titan EX, there were 3 other mentors with me. I was the only one who offered advice and even looked up a guide. I respect players who want a challenge!

The others did not do anything much, just stand there in silence. After a few wipes, one mentor goes ''offline'' all of a sudden with no notice didn't seem to show any signs of being DC. After many wipes, the party disbands, and I decided to re-queue again for another mentor roulette. I see the same guy who had just left, with no penalty!

I was wondering what SE policy regarding mentors who do these roulettes, goes AFK on purpose, gets kicked from the group, then re-queues shortly after. I would also like to know the community's thoughts on this kind of behavior.

I think mentors just want that crown next to their name xD. Most mentors i managed to queue up with on Duty Roulette are worse than Sprouts lol. Had a Mentor RDM the other day and even kindly gave him a heads up i'm going to pull a huge pile of mobs and to cast lb1 on them. He cast lb1 but completely missed the entire train. He only used 3 single target attacks. When asked why did he missed the LB, he just said "I don't really care" lol.

Some mentors want to help new players, some just want the rewards for doing the roulette. It's an argument as old as the mentor system itself and it's probably not going anywhere any time soon.

But does Square do anything punish players who just go offline on purpose to avoid the penalty?

No. How would they tell if you dc'ed legitimately or not?

If you can prove it, sure.
All you need to do is not kick them. See what happens when they come back.

It's crappy behavior but unless someone can prove that the d/c was intentional (though the timing usually speaks for itself from a player point of view) then it's hard for them to take action against the player(s) in question.

Another thread that will have constructive answers and won't devolve into mentor bashing I'm sure.

Is this a common thing that mentors do when they queue for mentor roulette and they get an extreme trail? I understand if they don't have time to teach an extreme fight, but wouldn't make sense just to leave?

I have no real idea if it's common because I don't queue for Mentor roulette a lot. I do feel, however, that a lot of the claims of people being wronged by a mentor are greatly exaggerated, but there is enough bad mentors out there to give the crown a bit of a bad rep.

Whenever I feel like queuing for Mentor roulette on occasion, if it's a trial I'm not particularly fond of (especially being synced down to level) then I will just leave. No words, no nothing. And by doing so I'm fine with the consequences such as the 30 minute lockout. Hopefully whatever group I decided to drop out of got a replacement, but it was simply not worth the time for me. This really only applies though if it's something like Thordan Ex.

I've queued up for Mentor roulette and gotten things like Shiva and Odin Ex before and managed to clear it with the groups I had. Most of the time, anyway. Sometimes it's simply a lost cause and my advice is better off spent elsewhere.
