    Rendering and Latency

Hello world of Final Fantasy XIV.

In 2016 I stopped playing this title. I had stopped playing this title because of rendering issues at World bosses (now referred to as hunts) and general latency problems. I play on the PlayStation 4 but that doesn't seem to make a difference as I see people playing on PC'S are having the same issues. Now I have come back I am enjoying the game but am experiencing those same problems from 3 years ago. I am curious as to any steps I can take on my end to help fix the problem.

While I think it is cool I can visit other worlds and partake in cross World hunts, it seems it's open the door to the same problems that cause me to stop playing in the first place. I'm curious what, if any, steps Square Enix is taking to reduce the latency lag and the rendering issues. I had hoped after not playing for 3 years that Square Enix would have sufficiently upgraded the servers to accommodate theses issues.

Please let me know if there's anything I can do on my end to reduce this latency.

"Rendering" is done client-side, is entirely hardware dependent, and has nothing to do with network latency in this context. SE cannot make a user's hardware faster -whether PC or console. FFXIV is already a very well optimized game, but it's still unrealistic to expect smooth framerates in world hunts with dozens of other players onscreen, especially on a PS4.

As for "general latency problems," have you pinged and run a traceroute to your datacenter's IP? Dropped packets can cause many problems.

    Datacenter hosts/IPs:
    • Aether: neolobby02.ffxiv.com [204.2.229.9]
    • Primal: neolobby04.ffxiv.com [204.2.229.10]
    • Crystal: neolobby08.ffxiv.com [204.2.229.11]

Thanks for your response but I'll wait till someone with some tech-savvy responds. I have a hard time believing that the console I play on is the problem. And I triple dog dare a member of Square Enix to say that is the problem. I'd love to screenshot that and send that to PlayStation and let them know that PlayStation users shouldn't purchase the game at all because it's not going to work on their platform the way it is supposed to or the way it is advertised. As far as rendering the console doesn't know what to render unless it receives the information packet from the server. It is a collaboration of information between the two entities. If you don't have technical Savvy and you're not going to offer anything of value please do not respond.
