Frequent 90002 disconnects after server transfer Brynhildr>Famfrit

    Good evening!

Almost immediately after transferring servers, an issue has appeared where I am semi-frequently (2-3 times a night) and at random disconnected with a 90002 error. My character is not logged out when this happens, so my attempt to reconnect has to resolve that issue before I can return.

This happens at any time during gameplay. Trials, Moving around the game world, frontlines, loading screens, doesn't matter. Tracerts show a specific hop sometimes causing a failure, if I have the IP correct.

This did not happen back on Brynhildr at all, which makes me suspect that the server hop could've been the problem.

I have two videos documenting examples of the disconnect happening and demonstrating that surrounding action does not appear to be a factor.

Good evening and thank you for posting in the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

How long have you been having this issue? Are you connected directly to the router? Also what have you tried so far to alleviate the errors?

Hope to see you online !

    Hello!

The issue has been observed for less than a week, as my server transfer is very recent. Before the transfer, this was not a problem at all.

I am directly connected to my router, and I can't tell if anything I do makes a difference due to the random nature of the disconnects- they don't seem to be prompted by any nearby entities or matter whether I'm in an instance. I have not made any major adjustments to my configurations to try and troubleshoot.

Thank you for the reply Vicvictorw.

Is it always that hop that has a failed ping? Or do any others do the same thing?

It looks like you have some instability along your route (some hops spike in latency then return to normal). Unfortunately, there isn't much that can be done about this. I do have some suggestions on how to strengthen your home network:

    1) Use a wired connection as opposed to wireless.

    2) Make sure your anti-virus/firewall has the appropriate exceptions for Final Fantasy XIV.

    3) Check the following Port Ranges on your router/modem to ensure that they have been opened:
    ▼TCP
    54992 through 54994,
    55006 through 55007,
    55021 through 55040
Your ISP can open these ports for you.

    4) The game will use the Internet Explorer web browser to connect to the internet. Open Internet Explorer, then open the "Tools" setting, go to "Internet Options" and adjust the following settings:
    - Under the "General" tab, please delete ALL browser history.
    - Under the "Security" tab, please move the slider to the lowest possible settings or no higher than "Medium"
    - Under the "Privacy" tab, click “Advanced” and select ‘Accept’ under both First Party and Third Party Cookies.
    - Under the "Advanced" tab, please make sure that "Allow software to run or install even if signature is invalid" is CHECKED.
    - Make sure that all SSL and TLS (EXCEPT SSL 3.0) are CHECKED. [SSL 3.0 should be UNCHECKED]
    - Hit "Apply" to save the settings, and then "OK, to close the Internet Options menu.
    - Right-Click on the FFXIV launcher icon and select "Properties"
    - Go to the "Compatibility" tab, and change the compatibility mode to "Windows 7"
    - Hit "Apply", then "OK" to save the changes.
    - Please RESTART your PC now. Once your PC has been restarted, Right-Click the FFXIV launcher icon once more and select "Run as Administrator"

We hope we can be of assistance in helping you enjoy the exciting world of Final Fantasy XIV!

So my router's configuration isn't as straightforward as simply allowing incoming ports- hopefully I've configured this correctly referencing my NETSTAT information:
    https://i.imgur.com/x6Dobec.png

Will implement the rest of these suggestions (I'm already on a wired connection) and will report back.

The tracert, if a ping does fail, it is always on that specific node. It is not consistent.

Okay, so far so good. I was able to run a stretch of several hours tonight without a single disconnect! With any luck that was all we needed to do!

Update: Tried rolling single steps at a time back to see if I could isolate the cause. Got the error again when I took it off running as administrator, and a second time with administrator on, but windows 7 compatibility off.

As far as I can tell it's stable when both are enabled.
