My pre order bonus code wont work

Hi!
After days of trying and waiting for help from the support center I thought I'd come to ask the forums.
My ffxiv account is ran through steam. I purchased the shadowbringers Xpack pre-order through steam too.
I've tried every single possible way of using the Pre-order bonus code and every single time it says it's invalid.
I've used the novice chat in-game, I've sent multiple emails and nobody seems to have a damn clue how to fix it.

Please help me.

Youre going to have to open a ticket with the GMs. I mean, you are taking your code and plugging it in at mogstation right? Also, there will be (if there isnt already) 2 separate codes. One for the game and one for preorder stuff. I havent checked recently, but the code for the game itself isnt active yet. Make sure you got the right one.

After pre-purchasing, you should have received 2 codes.

One will be for the pre-purchase items (Aetheryte Earrings and Gremlin minion)

One will be for the actual Shadowbringers expansion.

Only the one for the pre-purchase items can be redeemed currently, while the one for the game itself will be considered Invalid.

Also, be sure that you're going onto the Pre-Purchase Bonus Redemption part of the Mog Station and not trying to simply add Shadowbringers to your account.

Sorry if this sounds like a stupid question, but although you say you run the game through Steam, did you *originally* buy it on Steam?

I only ask because I know a lot of people (myself included) bought the base game again through Steam (and ignored the codes it gave us) so we could play it through our Stream library, but we're not actually Steam accounts (and all our expansions can't be bought on Steam).

Easiest way to check is to log into the Mogstation and look for one of these images:



The top one is non-Steam and the bottom one is, as you can probably guess, Steam.

If you're seeing the top on then your account isn't actually a Steam account so any expansion bought through Steam won't work.

If however it does say Steam then ignore my entire post

Woah there. If you've used Steam to buy the game and you used those game keys then your account IS a Steam account, don't go refunding anything until you're sure it's NOT a Steam account.

What does the Mogstation say about your account? (see my pictures above)

If you bought the original a realm reborn ( FINAL FANTASY XIV Online Starter Edition ) on steam then all other expansions also need to be bought that way, at least that is the way i remember it working.
Unless something have changed.

Same for the other way around if you bought from square enix.

Also steam does make it very clear.

How do I redeem my preorder code?
Visit the redemption site and log in using your Square Enix Account details. If you registered a Security Token to your Square Enix ID, make sure to have that at hand!
Insert your unique code in the entry form on screen and click to validate.
A confirmation page will appear displaying platform selection options. Select and confirm your platform to receive your code and instructions.
