Besides missing out on the actual story is there anything else that you miss out on if you skip the msq? Will I have to go back and unlock anything? I think the description says itll unlock most dungeons but I dont know what all isnt included in it.

With the msq being completed what is the best way to level up/learn other classes? Can I just spam run dungeons/job missions until I cap?

The only thing that comes to mind, is that I've heard that you miss out on a free Fantasia if you use the story skip because it's a quest reward from a quest that the story skip jumps over. Fantasia is an item that normally costs real money and lets you change your character's appearance once (you can always buy more for $ on the mog station shop).

The story skip description does indeed say MOST dungeons/trials, but what might be missing, I don't know. I haven't personally used a skip potion, I'm just regurgitating information I've seen from other people.


The best way to learn other classes is to simply try them out. The remainder of the main story quests up through level 70 are almost enough to mostly level a single job all the way to cap, but beyond there's a variety of other ways to get exp. Sidequests, dungeons, daily roulettes, beastmen quests, challenge log, palace of the dead / heaven on high, FATE grinding, levequests.

This list of dungeons includes information on which quests unlock them. Next to the name of the unlock quest is its icon, which indicates whether it's a main scenario quest (flaming circle icon) or a sidequest ("Q" shaped icon).

The story skip unlocks the ones normally unlocked by the main scenario (I'm pretty sure of this part), but I don't think it unlocks any of the optional ones you get from sidequests (I'm less sure of this part, can someone confirm?).

There's also a list of feature unlocks that include both the dungeons and other features. I'm not sure how many of the other features get unlocked by the story skip, but at least having a list of what unlockable features are available will let you check what you do and don't have, and find how to unlock any that you're missing.

Thank you for your help, questing is one of my least favorite parts of an mmo plus I want to get near end game in time for the next expansion.

Then you'd have to story and do a level skip for a job you like/think you like as I want to say story only skips the story and doesn't level boost you as well.

I used a Lv50 story skip on one of my characters.

Although the Mog Station listing only says it unlocks MSQ dungeons, it does also unlock all optional dungeons up to and including Lv50.

It does not unlock raids and optional trials, or complete any sidequests as far as I'm aware. (Though I had already leveled close to Lv50 and completed most of the 'core' sidequests that unlock game mechanics like companion chocobos and the challenge log, so I can't be certain. I doubt it though.)

Just throwing my two cents in here from having used a story skip on an alt. The only instances missing missing from my DF are those tied to major sidequest chains and Extreme Primals. So all the Warring Triad, HIldibrand, Alexander, Coil, Void Ark, and Crystal Tower instances are absent. Gold Saucer stuff and PvP are missing too. Every single dungeon from 1-60 including the optional ones are there however and their associated one off sidequests complete.

Did you skip to Lv50 or Lv60?

The dark knight quest begins in Ishgard in the northeast part of the "Pillars" city zone.

If you skipped to Lv50, just follow your main story quest and you'll come across it soon enough.

If you skipped to Lv60 (more likely) you'll need to go from Gridania into the North Shroud, then northwest into Coerthas. The entrance to Ishgard (marked "Foundation" on the map because that's the city zone you'll enter first) is in the centre-north of this map at the "Gates of Judgement". Talk to the gatekeeper to enter the city.

I would really like to know if there will come new level "boost"/skip when next expan goes live.
Like maybe from 60 to 70 or maybe 80 and can that be used if we already have and play on a character that has done main story to 60.
