

Well, if they are already doing that then there isn't much to say. Digital goods are not exclusive because there is no real barrier to reproducing the item. All they need is the data and a platform to sell it.They are already doing that - you get goodie bags at the fanfests stuffed with items that you cant get anywhere else, including the bag. (You can also get some exclusive items from participating in activies during the fanfest that you'd participate in anyways)
This year we got (at least in Paris) a very nice backpack, a metal korpukur-keychain, some buttons with different characters, a bunch of autotranslate magnets, a metal drinking bottle, a patch to put on your clothes shapd like a Gobbue, a bracelet, your "visitors pass" comes with a FFXIV-themed lanyard (this year it was job icons) and I might be forgetting something here... but yeah, for attending the fanfest you do get exclusive, physical items that were specially made for the fanfest and are, as far as I can tell, not available for sale anywhere (at least not by SE, someone might sell their goodie bag on ebay or something).
