First genderlock and now this? First a limited job and now limited races?

Saves devs time for sure xD

And here I thought lalas were the true limited race. At least they can gear up properly.

I mean if you put on a helmet and it covered the bunny ears you would look just like a Hyur and then what would even be the point...

I hate to use this world but... I think the "assumption" was that the helms would just have holes for the ears to stick through or maybe even just cover the back or front of the head.

That would be nice if it worked like that, but that would mean they would have to go through every single piece of equipment in the game for the head and modify it for both races which now i'm assuming here is a ton of work. The other two options is letting the ears just clip through and probably looking horrible or doing what they've decided and just not showing it altogether.

Yes it is quite reasonable to do that for now or later they mentioned at one point how many thousand items would be affected by some changes. It was quite a number.

Then it wouldn't really be much of a helmet now, would it? If your giant ears are sticking out the top, they make for an easy target. Thus the helmet wouldn't be useful at all.

Seriously, Yoshida explained it. The heads are unique, and have more options than other races in exchange for not being able to see helmets equipped. Hats will still be seen, just clipped through.

I don’t think they get more options than other races, just options that aren’t available to other races because they aren’t constrained by needing to fit into helmets.

That’s how I understood it anyway, particularly as I can’t imagine how they could actually give additional options to one race when the character creator is so rigid.
